Skip TV Intro - Only not working on the Plex Player App for Windows

Hey guys,
loving the recently added “Skip Intro” feature for a while now, using it mostly on my iOS Devices or Firefox (Desktop Version) and it works like a charm.

But for some content (mostly native HEVC / 265) I’m forced to use the Plex App for Windows, which would be fine by itself, but now that I’ve gotten used to the “Skip Intro” Feature I noticed that it doesn’t work for me inside the Plex App for Windows.
Tried it with different series where I’m able to skip the intro on iOS or Firefox.

So, since it doesn’t work for me, even though it should, I would like to know if somebody else is having the same issue or even maybe an solution?

Some further information:

Account: Monthly Plex Pass + Admin
Plex App for Windows: Version 1.18.0.1392-cf94f6a
OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 version 2004 (Build 19041.450)
Plex Server for Synology: Version 1.20.1.3252 (Beta)
NAS: Synology DS418play

Thank you guys in advance!

Greetings

It works for me. I also have the 1.18 version. An grey “Skip Intro” button appears in the lower right of the video that you have to click with the mouse. While I have the same app as you, I’m using the Plex Media Server for Windows.

It is also not working for me.
I also have the Plex v 1.18 on Windows and no “Skip Intro” button on both my Windows Devices, but on my Mac OS X the “Skip Intro” Button does appear and I have no clue why.

Would love a solution =D

EDIT:
On my Desktop the button now appears on the Friends show.
I’m gonna check on my Laptop later.

Also running Plex 1.18 on Windows. No skip intro or skip commercial button.
I also don’t get the skip button when I’m using Chromecast.

It only works in the web app or Android app if I’m NOT casting.

Looking into what might be up with the Windows app.

Chromecast is not supported at this time.

Can any of you having the issue with the Windows app grab the app logs after playing something where the skip intro button should have shown up.

Okay, I set it up so that it was about 10 seconds before a commercial. Then I closed the app, cleared the log, then reopened and hit play and let it run through the first commercial into the second. You should have a nice clean log. I have sent you a message with it attached.

EDIT: Any plans to add to Chromecast? Trying to manually skip commercials on Chromecast is painfully slow right now because I have to skip 30 seconds, wait until it starts playing, then hit skip 30 again. If I try to jump ahead, say 2 minutes, by hitting the skip 4 times in a row, it jumps to the beginning of the recording and I have to figure out where I was.

Can you confirm that if you view the xml for that episode that the commercial markers show up there. It will be towards the bottom of the xml like.

<Marker type="intro" startTimeOffset="96811" endTimeOffset="116214"/>
<Extras size="0"> </Extras>
<Related> </Related>
</Video>
</MediaContainer>

We would like to add Chromecast but I can’t make any promises.

Confirmed. It has three detected commercial markers:

<Marker type="commercial" startTimeOffset="0" endTimeOffset="4840"/>

<Marker type="commercial" startTimeOffset="784280" endTimeOffset="968830"/>

<Marker type="commercial" startTimeOffset="1701300" endTimeOffset="1793530"/>

For shows that I know have a detected intro it works for me on macOS and Windows 10 using the latest 1.18 (and upcoming 1.19) release.

I see the skip intro button appear in the lower right corner of the UI.

Yeah, I’m on 1.18 as well and I don’t get the SKIP for intros or commercials. I do get them in the Android app with the same show.

@matman are you using the same Plex user in the Windows app as you are on your Android app?

Yes, I’m logged in with my Plex Pass account on both devices. I noticed I am getting the SKIP if I run Plex from my browser. For some reason the Windows 10 app just doesn’t want to do it.

Hey guys,
sooooooo it realy bothered me and I tried some things.
On a fresh client who hadn’t installed any kind of Plex Player App before (neither the Windows Store Version nor the current once) it works directly without doing anything.
Just install the 1.18 client and you’re good to go.

The Skip Button was only missing on Clients who had an older Version installed before and did “update” to 1.18 (like 1.8 or 1.12, not sure which on it was)
If you just uninstall the client and delete all the rest, restart, do a fresh install it’ll work like it should.
Did try it on 3 different clients (All Windows Pro x64 ver. 2004) and now all of them are able to use it.

Sadly I just wanted it to work so I didn’t create any logs before or anything.

Greetings
