Hello, I searched and can’t find anyone else with this problem, so maybe I’m the only one… Whenever I play mp4 files through plex on my ps4, it has two side black bars. Sometimes a white line on the right hand side before the black bar. The video is 16:9,and the bars are super small, but not sure why they are there. Mkv files play properly with no black bars.
Am I the only one seeing this? Or is this a known problem?
I’ve attached a screenshot.
Thanks!
Dan.
I too have noticed that the image has small black bars on the left and right.
When I stream the MP4 through the regular PS4 Media Player, no bars.
Playing in Plex, I get a 1/2" bar on both sides on my 100" screen.
Not sure about MKV as my PS4 won’t Direct Play that, and my server won’t transcode very well at all.
I moved to Chromecast and the black bars disappeared.
I have the same issue, and I’m direct playing MKVs. There are two black bars on the left and right and a thin black bar on top (which you can see in your picture). I have also seen this on my buddies PS4, so not sure what’s going on here. I even checked and my media truly is 1920x1080 and not something odd. This must be happening on other users PS4s, at least anyone who has their TV setup to not overscan.
This doesn’t happen on my Samsung’s built in Plex, Vizo’s Google Cast, iPhone app, or Roku, so it’s something about the PS4 that is doing it.
Did you guys set your screen size via PlayStation settings?
