I tried creating smart collections with identical names in both my movie and TV libraries, but the collections do not seem to “reference” each other like non-smart collections do.
Is that just a Plex smart collection limitation or am I missing something?

I don’t believe Smart Collections link between libraries the way normal collections do. I could be wrong though.
There is an open issue right now where regular collections of the same name aren’t showing up in mobile, tvOS beta, and the new Fire android app, but it does work in Web. I created two smart collections, and they didn’t link in the web client, so it seems it’s just not supported.
See this thread for a similar question and a follow-up bug report being created, but no further update after. Looks like a Smart Collection will show a related regular collection of the same name, but not a smart collection of the same name. I didn’t test this situation though.
Precisely. The linking only works with “dumb” collections.
Great, thanks for answers. Is there any chance this will work one day or should I replace them with “dumb” ones?
