Smart Playlists not Downloading Correctly

Hi guys

Any joy with this please?

Hi Elan

Any update on my issue please? Is this being looked into?

Its gone silent recently.

Id ideally like my playlist able to be downloaded by the 5th July as I’m going on a long trip and would like to be able have this playlist with me offline.

Hi apologies, I looked at it but ended up rather stuck.

If you want to share the playlist with me (via the share action, I’m username elan), it might provide for easier debugging.

If you have the means, hitting this on your server and pasting in the XML returned would also be useful!

/library/sections/16/all?sourceType=10&track.userRating=10&and=1&push=1&track.genre=129561&or=1&album.genre=129561&or=1&artist.genre=129561&pop=1&type=10&sort=random

Hi Elan, I have shared the playlist with you.

Where would I paste that line in? In the URL of my browser?

I received the invite! Unfortunately it looks like I need the full library access to do the download, would you mind sharing it?

Should have access now

Thanks so much, that was super helpful. That was quite a bug

It turns out that smart playlists under 5 hours of duration will only download up to ~20 items. Any smart playlist over that will present the popup. Any “dumb” playlist will download in its entirety.

Will be fixed in the next release!

Sorry for the trouble, and for now there are a few workarounds, the easiest is probably:

  1. play the playlist.
  2. save the play queue as playlist (same tracks, but not smart).
  3. download that

Amazing!

Thanks for your efforts on this!

Least I now know I wasn’t the problem .

I think for now I will have to as you say; export the smart playlist to a normal playlist and download that.

Do you still need access to the library? Happy to keep it there if you still need to test anything.

Nope, please take away my keys to the car!

I am having the same issue. Do you know when the next release will come out? Thanks so much for tracking this down!

Also, as I posted here, this bug also appears to mess with the sort order of the smart playlist. Did the fix address this as well?
Thanks!

No date given.

Do as I’ve done for now and either export the smart playlist to a standard playlist for now and download that for offline use or add more songs to make it over 5 hours and it will download correctly.

Not sure I follow this; without any order specified in the smart playlist it’ll grab a random sampling of it. I suspect that might be the case even if a long enough time is picked; the idea is, if you care about the order of the smart playlist, it should be set in the playlist itself.

So if I make a smart Playlist, when setting the filters I can choose a sort when it shows the tracks. Then I update the smart Playlist. When I view it on the web in plex, I see the correct order. When I view the Playlist in plexamp via the library, I see the correct order. But when I download, it randomizes the order. This is new. I have used the same smart Playlists for years and I have been downloading via plexamp for years and the order has always matched. In the past 2 months or so the order has been wrong. But it appears to happen mostly in these Playlists where it doesn’t download the whole Playlist due to this bug. I am on my phone otherwise I would send Screenshots, but it should be fe fairly easy to test. Set a smart Playlist filter to sort by album and then download it.

Please upload Plexamp logs right after downloading the playlist so we can see what’s going on.

Sorry I was out of town. Just got back to test this. Here are the plexamp logs you requested, @elan . I just downloaded two smart playlists and the order in the download is randomized.

And to be honest, the sorting in the smart playlist on the web interface is not 100% correct. It is mostly correct, but there are a couple songs not sorted correctly. But in the plexamp download, they are completely wrong. Here are the plex server logs after the download if that helps.
