[SOLVED] Failure to obtain MetaData and play video files

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.16.2.1321-ad17d5f9e-x86_64
Player Version#: Version 3.108.2

Hey everyone, I seem to just keep getting more and more problems recently. My current problem is I can not play any videos on the server. I can play audio, I have yet to test if its only mkv files, but my brother says it plays fine on his phone. But neither of us can get it to play on our computers (direct play for both). On top of this I can no longer update metadata, and I have no idea why.
[Edit] The playback issue is just with mkv’s and avi’s on the computers, but not with the phones. the computers can play the mp4’s, but all filetypes are still struggling to update metadat.

I have tried uninstalling plex and reinstalling, updating the nas, restarting the server.

Here is the screenshot of the console when I try to update metadata. I have checked and the naming is correct to the best of my knowledge.

Here is the server logs

Thanks everyone!

CURL ERROR 6 — = DNS lookup error. Your NAS cannot find the hosts by name.

  1. Verify connectivity
  2. Verify default gateway is properly configured
  3. Verify DNS provider is properly configured.

Well, apparently my QNap changes the default gateway everytime it turns off. This seems to have fixed it. Makes me wonder why my brother could play it but i could not.

Thanks a ton!

My QNAP does not.

Is the QNAP configured with DHCP or Static IP settings?

If DHCP, then the DHCP server (modem/router) is the likely cause.
It’s best practice to make a server static.
