(Solved) Having issues with DVD order selection for a show

—TL:DR—
Seasons 1 and 3-7 populate as desired but Season 2 is sorting by Airing order so It’s starting at overall episode number 99 rather than 27.

I’m trying to sort Dragon Ball Kai into DVD order but Season 2 is still using Airing order. Here’s the deets:

In airing order, it’s just 2 Seasons. The first 2008 release of the first few arcs, then the 2014 release of the last arc. However, Season 2 in airing order is missing 8 episodes for some reason. Meanwhile, the DVD order has all of the episodes but divided into 7 seasons (links below)

I performed the obvious next steps, blissfully expecting things would work as intended:

  • Removed the series folder
  • Scanned the shows library
  • Deleted library trash once the series was gone
  • Renamed all 167 files to match DVD order (thanks powershell <3)
  • Disabled all metadata agents but TheTVDB for shows
  • Moved the series folder back to my plex TV library folder
  • Scanned library again
  • Changed the sorting order of the series to “DVD Order” in properties
  • Refreshed series metadata

And it was all just as I wanted it to be! …Except season 2

Any suggestions to offer other than manually copying and pasting all the metadata for the entire season (just for Plex to wipe it on rescan even after pressing the lock buttons) would be appreciated. I’m losing my mind here.

And to cover all bases, here are the fixes I’ve tried already that didn’t help:

  1. Removing any identifying metadata from my files other than file name.
  2. Setting all Season 2 metadata to “-” with the multi-edit, then removing “-” to remove all text metadata, then refreshing metadata.
  3. Using the older tvdbDVDOrder agent plugin that someone made. Doesn’t give any search results in “fix match” so I figure it’s deprecated beyond use.

(All of these were combined with the move files away, rescan, empty trash, move files back, rescan, rinse repeat process)

I did the metadata thing again where I selected all episodes in the season and changed all values to “-” and saved, then did the same thing but removed “-”. (You can’t remove all of them if the grey “MIXED” text is in the field. They all have to match before a batch delete).

The only thing I think I might have done differently is removing the Writer tag they all shared…?
Either way it might have been a solution that only works after giving Plex a minute or two to rub both of it’s brain cells together. I wish I had a more definitive solution, but give this a shot if you’re having a similar issue.
