TVDBdvdorder agent not working?

Decided to watch Firefly last night and found the episode order was showing the aired order, not the dvd order. I tried to change to tvdbdvdorder in the agent scanner and it changed to episodes to generic episode names, losing all the metedata.

For example, aired order shows episode 1 as “The Train Job”. DVD order should show episode 1 as “Serenity”. When switching to dvdorder, episode 1 now shows and “Episode 1”.

I know the naming is correct because the show was correct 2 years ago when I last watched it. i.e., ‘Firefly.S01E01.Serenity’.

Is the TVDBdvdorder agent not working?

Is this actually a separate / 3rd party agent or are you referring to using the DVD order with the official TheTVDb or Plex TV Series agents?
If it’s one of the latter… have you already tried triggering a Metadata refresh for the show?

Yes, I am using the DVD order for TheTVDB agent and I have tried refreshing the metadata. I’ve also unmatched, fix match and rematched multiple times. And now, when I rematch, I get the 2017 show called Firefly and then have to fix match.

I am dealing with this issue as well. I added my son’s The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! DVDs to my Plex server. On TV, there were two stories per 30 minute episode and both TMDB and TVDB list it this way in aired order. The DVDs broke each story into its own episode and the TVDB DVD order reflects that.
If I select TMDB (Aired) or TVDB (Aired) in Episode Ordering, the metadata pulls in correctly. If I select TVDB (DVD), the videos list as Episode 1, Episode 2, etc. I’ve tried all the different tricks of the trade without success.

What tricks are those?
Did you manually trigger Refresh Metadata for the entire show after setting the episode order to TVDB (DVD)?

I tried that. I’ve also tried:
– switching to Aired, refresh metadata, switching back to DVD, refresh metadata again.
– the Plex Dance.
– renaming the files in different ways. Currently, they are named like below:
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! - 1x06 - The Great Gladiator Gig.mkv
– removing the folder, emptying the trash, then putting the folder back.
Please let me know if there are other tricks.

Plex appears to be recognizing that naming – however it’ll prefer the Show Name - sXXeYY schema. That being said, this will only impact the scanner component… as you pointed out, the episodes are recognized to be part of the right show, they just don’t get their metadata – so that won’t have an impact.

Please try the following:

  1. refresh the metadata for this show
  2. wait for Plex to complete the refresh
  3. download your server logs and upload the resulting zip-file here

Logs weren’t showing anything obvious. Though Plex have recently commented in another thread that there’s a known issue with the DVD order of TVDb

Just an update…I refreshed the metadata on the Mario Bros folder today and it populated correctly. It looks like the Plex team resolved the issue.
