Hi I am newish to plexpass but have been using plex for a number of years, have recently added a LOT of movies to plex and only some of the movies were not updating.
A) Initially I removed those that were not syncing, cleaned trash did a sync then added the little critters back, about 50 movies not updating, even if I selected a refresh of the actual movie.
B) Next I bit the bullet, deleted library called ‘movies’ started again, new library also called ‘movies’ and added the movies (approx 5,200) this time after some time I got most covers and meta data but now I have over a 100 that don’t have covers and meta data.
C) Suggestions ?
I have data on a QNAP NAS, server is running on a 2014 Mac mini running most upto date software, server is running 0.9.12.11 which it says is up to date.
Thanks in anticipation
hmm, out of disk space on the partition where the plex metadata is stored?
No lots of room, only use the Mac mini for Plex, updated to 0.9.12.13 and same problem, added another 30 additional movies, server recognized they were added but no art work / meta data after 6 hours
Any suggestions please ??
If you try and match it manually does it work then? How are the files named? Both folders and actual filename please.
If I select the movie from the server and select Refresh’ it will not update, all movies are automatically renamed by “theRenamer” all movies in the one media folder on the NAS drive
\multimedia\movies\The Big Trail (1930).mpg
Typo
\multimedia\movies\The Big Trail (1930).mp4
Are all the movies for which plex doesn’t find info that old?
The Big Trail (1930) is neither listed at Freebase, nor at The Movie Database.
So where should the metadata come from?
All you can do is to acquire the textual metadata yourself “from somewhere” and embed them into the mp4 file. (Good thing you use mp4, since this is the only video file format from which Plex can extract metadata.)
If you can find a poster picture, put it besides the movie file and name it exactly like the movie file, except for the file name extension The Big Trail (1930).jpg
Then activate the ‘Local Media Assets’ metadata agent, so your embedded metadata get scraped.
Belated update, all came right after manual matches changing to the movie database…
