Server Version#:1.31.0.6654
Player Version#: Windows Plex App, Plex for Android, Plex for LG WEb OS, Plex for Roku, Plex for FireTV and the Plex web app
I’ve reported this before, but it was closed because no one was interested (other than to say, “I’m not seeing that.” – which is not especially helpful unless they attempt to duplicate my configuration first.) Since my original report, the computer running my Plex server died and I had to rebuild it on a new machine.
Guess what?
I STILL have this issue! I just added last night’s (2/21/2023) episodes of “La Brea” and “The Curse of Oak Island” to my server. Both have the Originally available date set to 2023-02-21, but only La Brea shows in the Recently Released Episodes list. Both show as Recently Added (in their respective libraries).
This is a very frustrating issue because there are annoying work-arounds (like manually locating the new episodes), so it seems no one at Plex could care less about tracking it down and fixing it.
FWIW, I have quite a few different TV libraries: one for each decade, to help me find shows, plus one just for cartoons. The shows that are not appearing are in the 2010sTV library, while the shows in the 2020sTV library always appear just fine (to the best of my knowledge.)
Thanks – I think. My setting for your first comment were correct (they matched what you showed.) My setting for the second item though, did not have the Home or Friends’ Home items checked for Recently Released Episodes.
So I checked them.
At first, I did not see a change. The recently released list still showed only shows from the 202sTV library.
But then… I scrolled down a ways and discovered that I now had a completely separate Recently Released Episodes list that contained only shows from the 2010sTV library!
To me, this is not a good or even smart thing. There should only be ONE recently released list for each media type (unless, perhaps we choose otherwise, but that would seem to be a rare thing.)
So now my problem is: How to I get the server to combine all of the different Recently Released Episodes lists into a single, useful list?
Thanks! That was way off the bottom of my screen and I never expected any “special” settings to be “hidden” down there.
I’m now wondering how long it will take the server to apply this setting to my existing stuff, because it has been several minutes and a couple client restarts (someone else is using the server, so I cannot restart it now.) Or must I now start doing the Plex Dance with everything recently added?
I’m using the Plex App on Windows. My Plex Server is running on a different computer a few feet away. I made the changes through the Plex app and have now restarted the app three times with no affect that I can see – except that the ‘Merge recently added items’ option is checked.
Hmmm… I just noticed that I’m concerned with Recently Released Items and the setting is for Recently Added Items. Does that one setting affect BOTH types of list? If so, it might be good to mention in the little explanation below the setting.
I was looking for a change in Recently Release Episodes and didn’t look closely enough at the setting until after trying it out.
I now have a single Recently Added TV list, neatly bracketed by two of my many Recently Released Episodes lists. It looks stupid and kinda hides some new stuff from users who don’t ever try searching, but it is barely adequate.
Which is more than it had been before, so thank you very much! Now if the Plex developers would consider a similar option for Recently Released or making the existing setting do both…
