@DonFromPA Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that you can bypass the TLS switchover by reverting to an older version. I believe the switchover is on the Plex.tv end and is preventing the Plex devices that don’t support TLS 1.2 from authenticating.
Plex needs to add a less secure fallback option for us out there isn’t much that we can do other than use Plex on something else.
While we previously offered apps for the following smart TV platforms and models, they are no longer actively supported. An older version of our app may still be available on the devices, but the old app will not be receiving updates and may not be compatible with newer features or server releases.

TiVo
Series 4 and newer TiVo devices.
The question to ask is what changed?
Did the Tivo firmware update?
Did the App update?
Did the server update?
I don’t know who isn’t supporting whom (Tivo supporting Plex or the reverse) but maybe something at the business level changed and this is it finally catching up?
I am not a player app engineer. I don’t even know who to ask at this point from the historical standpoint.
@ChuckPa Looks like Plex made another backend change and my Tivo Mini is now able to use Plex again. Too bad, because I ordered a newer version of the Mini… but I’m just glad that things are working again, regardless
@ChuckPa I’m all off a sudden experiencing the insecure app access from remote connections error that appears to be an SSL thing. I’ve attached my log, can you possible help with this? Or will there be an update rolled out to repair this for the masses?
(Thanks in advance for all of your help with this, and everything else that you do!!)
I appear to suddenly be experiencing the same problem as others. I have traced it down to the SSL certificate. If I go to https://myhostname:32400/web/ I indeed get the SSL error. Can you please reset my certificate @ChuckPa ? Thank you
PS: I’m a Linux guy as well My issue is that my Plex suddenly stopped working if I try to access it from the outside world. Loading any sort of list of content just hangs. For instance, if I try to use Plex over LTE on my phone, this happens. If I switch to Wi-Fi (on the same network as my Plex), everything is fine.
There are lots of “CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: sslv3 alert certificate unknown” in my logs
EDIT: Hm of course if I use myhostname with Plex there will be a certificate error since the Plex cert is issued for Plex’s hostname. I tried again with https://[my-ip-with-dashes].[hex-identifier].plex.direct:32400 and did not see an SSL error. But I am unable to play media or even browse the media from my phone
I’m pretty sure I have a similar problem: Remote access works through a web browser but not through the Plex android app unless I always allow insecure connections.
Ah yes if I enable insecure connections it appears to work for me as well! Unfortunately Plexamp doesn’t have this option and my main use case for using Plex outside of my home is listening to music in my car
EDIT: Did more testing today. Even listing anything on my Plex doesn’t work with secure connections required. As soon as I stop requiring secure connections, it all works. I was able to listen to music during my drive no problemo. Everything was working with secure connections several days ago and nothing has changed on my end.
UPDATE: I did not change anything. Things began working today. I can play my music on my phone over LTE again without having to enable insecure connections. PlexAmp (which does not have this option) is happily working again. I assume there was some fix on Plex’s end. Thank you
hi chuck am running plex on my qnap nas and am having the same problem as most people with remote access not working properly.will there be an update to fix this ?
