When using Plex for music I select an artist, there is no way to choose an album which I guess is coming in the future but my problem is that it starts playing the first song by that artist but it only loads the list down the side with the first 25 or so songs, so for most artists I can only choose from the first 2 and a half albums that were scanned in,if I scroll down to the last item on the list I can’t scroll further because even given time it doesn’t load more songs, that combined with the lack of album select means I have no real elegant way of selecting the songs from the artists further albums.
I did find a work around where if I started playing one of the songs further down the list the next batch of 20 or so would be added to the list but it’s not great having to keep doing that until the song you want has loaded into the list, especially since I mainly use the list on the side to find the song I will play next whilst the current one is playing, now I have to stop the current song or wait until it’s finished and start playing 2 or 3 random songs to get further down the list instead of just being able to scroll down through all the songs while a song is playing to find the one I want.
So if you hit ‘X’ the app will play all tracks from the artist. We only show 20 or so tracks ahead from the current one during playback. If you navigate to the artist with ‘A’ you should see their albums, music videos and information. Let me know if that works.
If I click on an artist name I just get a screen that has two buttons in the upper left corner, one with a triangle that plays all the songs and another with arc over a dot which I can’t figure it’s function, on the left below that I see my artist profile picture above 3 small boxes with image not found style icons in them, is this where the albums should be? the rest of the screen is just the description and details like AUDIO/SUBTITLE. I’m guessing I should be seeing the albums where those little boxes are but there’s nothing but the image not found icons in little boxes for every artist which is weird because the album covers work fine everywhere else I use plex…
How do you have your music library setup? We have a similar (fixed soon!) issue with TV shows when you have ‘Personal Media’ - but I don’t see how we could fall for the same problem with music.
If you create a new test music library, does it work?
My folder structure is pretty standard Music>Artists>Albums, I managed to do some test library’s it seems that if I choose to use my own metadata I get the screen from earlier when I click on artists but if I choose to automatically download metadata I get the screen with albums, hopefully I can get the album view whilst keeping my metadata, a lot of the stuff I listen to isn’t that well known so it just ends up being a mess with the auto metadata feature and I’ve already gone through and done it manually so every-things tagged with the correct metadata as it is.
@acrcmb Would you mind sharing the affected music library with me to debug? I cannot reproduce your issue with any of my test music library setups. My Plex username is the same as my forum username.
