Why does the movie Maestro (2023) has Musical as genre?
It does not have that genre on IMDB nor TMDB.
I’m using the non-legacy Plex agent.

It’s most likely coming from Maestro - TheTVDB.com.
However, I don’t see this genre myself for this movie. Maybe force refresh the metadata and see if it’s updated.
Thanks!
I refreshed and it was still there.
I noticed that if you google Maestro 2023, Google also shows Musical as genre.
IMDB and TMDB are pretty sufficient for movies.
I hope they revise the agent in this regard.
At least let the user choose the source of the metadata.
I have a feature request for that [Feature Request] Ability to specify Metadata from a single source (IMDB, TMDB or TVDB) but I’d not hold any hope it’ll ever be implemented.
Thanks. I’ll upvote that and maybe bump it.
Ah, I see musical now. When I looked last night I was checking with the mobile app which displays 3 genres however the webux gives the full list, which IMO is way to many. Genres become meaningless when too many are added.

Anyhow, musical is wrong for this movie. Music would be correct (not musical) by tvdb don’t have this as an option so I decided to remove it altogether from tvdb. Give it a few days for this update to creep its way into plex.
Even if only 3 genres are shown, automatic filters classify it as musical.

Precisely. Using 3 different services for metadata only makes it worse.
There are so many movies and shows having this issue. The worst is the overlapping genres imo. It truly makes no sense to fetch genres from various sources at the same time.
But this is a deep running problem with Plex. They seem to pick quantity (more sources) over quality data in several places. There is this problem with genres but also:
They insist on using weird sources for release dates, even when they know they are incorrect. Incorrect partial metadata: Laid to Rest - #2 by OttoKerner
They insist on using weird sources for Album Reviews even when they know they are in the wrong language Getting lots of German album reviews?
