For some reason True Blood is only showing Season 2. Nothing about it makes sense as all the episodes for seasons 1-7 are named properly just like Season 2. I have tried analyzing but nothing seems to be picking up the other seasons. I even tried renaming some to force plex to see them but nothing. I find it odd that its only True Blood.
Would you mind sharing how those episodes are named and organized?
Could it be some of them contain conflicting embedded metadata?
Not sure how else to show it in something like a log maybe? New to these forums and still somewhat new to plex.
Strictly speaking not correctly named. The “_” should be gone. (can even use “.” instead but its better (for Plex) with just space).
Also slightly depends on how new server version you use. They became more strict lately.
Season folder names are also not what plex recommends and while they might have worked in the past they may not now.
to what dokuro said, you should be using Season ##
not S##
as the season folder names.
I tried changing some episodes to not use any underscores and it didn’t change the results for some reason.
I will move them out of the folders and put them loosely to see if that changes anything. I found it funny that True Blood is the only Show that is happening with though.
So funny thing. I moved all the seasons out of the S## folders and put them into the True Blood parent folder, ran a rescan on them. Season 2 still shows just find and when i look at the Get Info on those episodes, it is showing they were moved. I went through renaming Season 1 episodes and it wouldn’t let me rename 2 of them as it said they were being used by Plex transcoder.exe so I just went about and renamed the ones I could. After the scan was complete, nothing has changed. I shut down the server and brought it back up and ran another scan, still not showing the other episodes even though 2 of those were seen by the transcoder?
I guess I will try and re-encode one of the episodes in handbrake to see if it changes anything.
Completely re-encoded S01E01 and still nothing. No idea what is going on, glad i use Kodi in the house, guess I just wont ever watch True Blood remotely.
When doing all that moving of files its recommended to do a full plex dance to fixup any bad information in your db. That might explain some of the oddities you are seeing.
Ok, i did the dance, then another rescan, nothing changed, lol.
Could you give us another screenshot of how the files/folders are now?
You still have _
on the season file names.
On some of them yes. Season 2 has them and that is the only season Plex is picking up. I renamed all the season 1 files without underscores and plex still doesnt pick them up.
Also doesn’t look like you have any season folders based on that screenshot like you did originally (albeit with improper naming previously).
Are all the files just under the True Blood folder now?

Ideally the naming should be ShowName – s01e01 – Optional_Info.ext
but ShowName s01e01 Optional_Info.ext
should also work. I bet ShowName_s01e01_Optional_Info.ext
is messing things up. I would fixup ALL files from all seasons and then plex dance the show.
Beginning to think Plex just doesnt like True Blood. Out of the 100 other shows i have on Plex, TB is the only one showing these issues. I renamed all episodes, even created a Season folder to see if it picked up that one compared to others. I did the dance again, I saw the activity scan the TB S2 episodes but none of the others are still showing up, lol.
There are a lot of mp4 files in there.
Disable “Prefer local metadata” in the properties of the tv show library.
And while you are there, make double sure that the only path that appears on the “Add Folders” tab is Z:\TV Shows
.
Not one folder level, nor lower.
