Stuttering

Hi

I've been testing the Xbox One app, and I'm mostly pleased with it, accept one major issue.

I'm getting constant stuttering on playback of about half my films, and it looks like a framerate mismatch, or an incorrect conversion of 24fps at 60hz.

This is the issue I'd like to see resolved first and foremost =)

I'd also like to see collections added to the interface, as I have a lot, and its a quick and easy way to marathon films, etc.

Also I'm curious to how audio is sent to the Xbox One, as I see it's in AAC format, and I was wondering is the quality of the original soundtrack reduced, or converted to a similar bit rate as the original?

Many thanks =)

Kevin

I am sadly experiencing the same.

One of the videos that is stuttering very much has these tech-specs:

  • MK
Video
  • Codec H264
  • Bitrate 4647 kbps
  • Sprache English
  • Bit Depth 8
  • CABAC 1
  • Chroma Subsampling 4:2:0
  • Color Space yuv
  • Duration 53:20
  • Frame Rate 25.000 fps
  • Frame Rate Mode cfr
  • Has Scaling Matrix 0
  • Height 720
  • Level 4.1
  • Profile high
  • Ref Frames 9
  • Scan Type progressive
  • Width 1278
Audio
  • Codec AC3
  • Kanäle 5.1
  • Bitrate 384 kbps
  • Sprache Deutsch
  • Bit Depth 16
  • Bitrate Mode CBR
  • Dialog Norm -31 dB
  • Duration 53:20
  • Sampling Rate 48000 Hz
Audio
  • Codec AC3
  • Kanäle 5.1
  • Bitrate 448 kbps
  • Sprache English
  • Bit Depth 16
  • Bitrate Mode CBR
  • Dialog Norm -31 dB
  • Duration 53:20
  • Sampling Rate 48000 Hz

I would be very happy to see the stuttering gone. My NAS is surely powerful enough to cope with the transcoding. (QNAP 870pro with an i5 3570T).

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

hi

have tried changing the quality settings?

There's a setting within the app itself but I believe you can only access it while a movie is playing. hit the 3 dots next to the fast forward on screen button

i changed mine to the max possible and now the 1080 movies play perfect.

I've started on the highest and gone down, and they continue to stutter in the exact same way, regardless of bit rate chosen :(

Like I said it looks like the Xbox isn't converting some from 24fps properly :(

I didn't realize that option was there. I will definitely change that on my next playback.

Reading other issues, apparently the stuttering is caused by high bitrare dts audio tracks… This makes a lot of sense, but is rather annoying as most of my collection has audio in this format

I'm having the same issue, but like you said its only with high bitrate dts. The server is a 2.6 dual core, when transcoding it pushes it to 100% and still stutters. Have found that it only gives me problems with 1080p+5.1 DTS. 780p or lower with 5.1 and I'm able to keep up and CPUs stay under 70%. I've heard that support for DTS is coming

I was seeing this with transformers and a TrueHd track. Going with 5.1 AC3 fixed it. So it has to be a bit rate thing not a specific codec.
