Still having issues with subtitles on 2016 Samsung TV (UA40KU6000W). Seems to be 3 main types of issue -
Subtitles sometimes struggle to keep up - subtitle will flash up for a split second right at the end of a line of dialogue before moving to the next line - happens maybe a 4-5 times over the course of an hour
Subtitles break between episodes - Watch an episode of something with subtitles, which work ok, the next episode auto-plays after, turn subtitles on again for this episode - they never appear.
Subtitles just miss lines altogether - unsure if this is the same issue as number 1, but sometimes entire lines are just missing from the subtitles altogether, in some cases several minutes or more won’t have working subtitles.
This has all only been an issue since the new app preview. It’s happening with SRT files that are saved alongside the video files, as well as subtitles loaded directly via the Plex interface.
Not having the same issue with the web player.
Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: 5.2.1
I also noticed something similar on both my Q7FN and RU7100.
Don’t know if it’s a problem with the PMS or Samsung’s Plex app:
Subs are not loaded when allowing the next episode to be played automatically (or when playing the video manually, as the countdown is ticking);
A strange error occurs in the middle of an episode: out of nowhere, different subtitles are mixed and loaded together;
Another error: the subtitle stops loading or just loads at random and
The error that was never corrected: if any video already starts with subtitles, the first lines of the subtitle are not loaded.
Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402
Player Version#: 5.2.1
Yes, this is a really big issue with the new samsung app. This bug is the main reason i switch back to the old version on longer sessions when the headache gets to massive.
The issue has existed seens the new app was lanched but as i have not seen any post about this before i figured there was only me.
The subtitles disappears, randomly. Especially when there are fast dialogue, like the text can not keep up and there for dops entirely.
The text seems like its not printed on the screen at the same time, it more like the characters is printed one character at a time, witch make you get a headache after some time.
The subtitels is shown maybe 100ms later in the new app vs the old app.
Same issue here with Samsung App.
All is working fine with the same media on AppleTV. Its annoying when there are a lot of text and you cant read it. Or when subs stop out of nowhere during 10 seconds and pop again.
There is no issue with the regular version but the regular cant handle files with a lot of subtitles streams on it and new one can.
I was able to reproduce the issue with subs not starting on next episode playback. For the other issues, sounds like it’s possibly related to Subtitles Disappearing too quickly. Can you confirm?
Hard to say for certain. As I say, in some cases it’s not that the subtitles disappear too quickly - it’s that they never appear at all (not all lines). Although that could well be 2 symptoms of the same issue.
Subtitles arent showing for several seconds. Several lines. So I guess it is not the same issue as subtitles disappearing quickly. There are not subs at all. I Can send you a media if you want.
And yeah, there is a delay with the New version. Subtitles are out of Sync by something like 100-200ms. No problem with other device.
I’ve been having the same issue with them dropping on the next episode, and sometimes they’re either way behind or way ahead. One episode of a show, the subs were like 8 seconds ahead of audio.
Just wanted to chime in and say I have the same issue with subtitles not being shown once Plex auto-plays an episode on my Samsung TV. Happens with SRT subtitles as well as image based subtitles such as PGS and VOBSUB. It happens with direct play as well as transcoding.
The other issues I can’t say for sure I’ve experienced but I do find myself having issues with subtitles that I am attributing to the subtitle source which could very well be the fault of the Plex app.
Too early to be certain, but definitely looks like one specific file that was having issues (throughout the last few versions) is consistently loading subs at the right time again.
Will keep an eye on it and test out some more files over the next few days. Thanks!
