Subtitles found on Plex Cloud Server, not Windows PMS?

Hello all,

I’ve had a problem with my Windows installation of Plex intermittently finding .srt subtitles (this is not a file naming issue). I’m never quite sure when the .srt subtitles will or won’t be found.

I’ve experimented with the Plex Cloud Server. With at least one title I had a problem with on the Windows installation, same file, same .srt subtitles, the Plex Cloud Server found the subtitles without any problem.

Could someone suggest some troubleshooting (perhaps another discussion here) I could do to figure out why the subtitles are discovered in the cloud but not on my Windows installation? I would love to fix this on Windows, where I have most of my media at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

‘sidecar’ subtitles are handled by the ‘Local Media Assets’ agent.
So this must be active under Settings - Server - Agents (under all relevant agents )

Thank you, OttoKerner! I don’t know how that got unchecked, but checking it under everything under Movies seems to have solved the problem.

Probably because of some misrecognized videos in mp4 format?
Drag the line ‘Local Media Assets’ downwards, instead of disabling it.
This should enable you to use extgernal subtitles as well as avoiding mismatches, caused by embedded (wrong) ‘Title’ tags.
