Subtitles in SRT file not synced with dialog

The srt file that is saved in the folder with the movie is not synced with English dialog. How can I sync the srt file with the movie? I have the sync subtitles checked on the screen.

Verify that the automatic subtitle sync can actually be used with this movie:
(you might have to scroll down a bit, to see that line)

If the movie has more than one audio track, sync may only work with the first audio track, because this is the one which gets analyzed.

How do I get to the Media Info screen?

What can I do if the “Has Voice Activity” setting says “false”?

I’ve never looked at the audio track setting. How do I know if there is more than one, and can I just set it to the first audio track to fix the syncing?

Plex media info

Try “Analyze”. It should perform the analysis.
If it fails, check if the first audio track is using a Dolby codec. If this is the case, it hints at an issue with the EAE binary on your server. Usually a permission issue in your transcoder temp folder.

I clicked on the 3 dots in the lower right of the movie banner, and chose “Get Info”, but the screen dpoesn’t look like yours. Under the Media column on the left, there was no listing for “Has Voice Activity”. The Movie was The Shining (1980) so maybe it was too old to have that? I did run “Analyze” for the movie, but the subtitles were still not in sync. Any ideas?

My bad. I didn’t scroll down to see the other settings. It says voice activity true, and Can Auto sync true, but it still doesn’t sync to the dialog. Anything else to try? My server is a Mac mini, and I didn’t understand your comment about the EAE binary, or the permission issue.

Here’s a screen shot:

What server version are you on? 1.43.0.x has a subtitle sync issue that may be causing your issue.

I am on server version 1.43.1.10611, so hopefully they have fixed the subtitle sync issue since 1.43.0.x.

I do want to mention that I don’t always have this sync problem with movies and TV series. Many times it is synced right. It’s just that when it does come up, it is annoying. I will keep watching to see if I can find some kind of commonality among the times that it does this.

OK, thanks to all for responding to my post. I just want to report back.

On a hunch, I updated the server on my Mac Mini, and restarted my Roku Ultra. I then went back to restart the movie that was out of sync in the Plex app on the Roku (The Shining (1980). Magically, the subtitles were in sync! I don’t know how to explain it, and I tried a lot things that didn’t work, but now everything is fine. Go figure!
