Subtitles on Android app cutting out early

Having an issue with the Plex app for Android specifically. On my PC and TV this issue does not exist, so it’s not the file or subtitles, as they run proper on other platforms.

But when I watch content on my galaxy s22 ultra the subtitles are erratic, and often cut out seconds before they should. Not sure what to do here, as thos issue is newer.

Plex server is the latest Plex pass build (as of posting 8.9.22, I can’t get it now, at work).

The app is version - 9.6.0.34226

No idea what to do, as I love watching anime on my phone. Thanks In advanced for the help

ASS subtitles?

Plex is working on adding ASS subtitle support to the Android clients.

Long thread focused on Android TV: Nvidia SHIELD/Android app SSA/ASS format anime subtitles + transcoding problems

Based on comments in the thread, the work will carry over into the mobile clients as well.

In the meantime…

Do you have Auto Adjust Quality enabled in the Plex Android app (Settings → Quality)? If so, try disabling it.

If not ASS, what subtitle format?
