Subtitles problem in movie section .mp4

Hello ,

I am using the 0.1 version of Plexconnect. It has problem displaying the subtitles in the movie section with extentions .mp4.

I put force Transcode True.

The subtitles of any .mp4 in the Tv shows are working perfect. But when you go to movies and play a mp4 it doesnt display the subtitles although the force Transcode is True.

Any idea ?

Thanks

What version of PMS are you running, there are some issues with subs on the last publicly available one?

Have you checked the media info of the files to see if the subs are natively playable by the ATV, if not you will need to turn on forced transcoding or convert/replace the subs?

Hello i am running the latest PMS 0.9.8.1 .

The subs are working perfect in Iphone , Android , Plex/Web.

What i have done is i have downloads 3 str (different subtitles) for the certain movie and the third str was working perfect. Then i delete the 2 others and i try to play back the movie and again the subtitles were not showing up.

Can you upload a sample file (not the whole file!)?

done : http://www.sendspace.com/file/xvbvtj

There are no subs no the sample you uploaded.

Sorry here it is . I have put the firs 1.4min with subs

What OS is your PMS running on?

windows 7

Ah okay, its just there is a bug in the 32 bit version of the Linux PMS at the moment related to subs.

I am on my iPad but will take a look at the file when I get a chance.

thanks

I dont have subtitles in Series that are mp4 but I do have subs in mkv avi ect. Running latest connect and latest pass pms.

Okay i spent some time looking at this using the sample file you gave me and it is not a PlexConnect issue.

I renamed the files so that i could use them as both a TV episode and a film.

The desktop client has not problems showing the files with the subtitles (bear in mind that it is very different to the other clients).

In the web/iOS/PlexConnect clients the video played without issue with no subs (it was being direct played).

If transcoding happened in any of the other clients to force showing of the subs then it would show the very first subtitle but when it reached the second it would stop to buffer at the point of each new sub, after buffering it would start playing again but would NOT show the subs.

It appears you either have found an issue with the Plex Media Server or with the type of subtitles you are using.

Please report this bug along with the link to here and your sample in the PMS sub forum as it is not a PlexConnect issue.

Correct i had the same issue it display's the first subtitles and then stop working.

Ok did some test :

I have download 2 more str for the movie. One with english characters UTF-8 and another one ANSI (greek characters). Either didnt work. Then i edit the str and save them as UTF-8, restart Plexconnect and now the subtitles are visuable

So i thought that everything was ok. I remove the 2 str and i keep one. I refresh the movie section in PMS then i close and reopen the Plexconnect. I tried to run the movie with the subtitles that previous worked and it doesnt work.

I think there is a problem because another movie with subtitles with greek characters and ANSI Plexconnect showing it without any problem.

I hope this bugs gets fixed soon, I have too many srt files or subs streamed within an MKV that I just can't edit them.

If there are any people also willing to downgrade now; you can re-download it by visiting
