Subtitles stop working after a short time in MKV

Hi,

PMS 1.11.0.4666 with Chrome Web Player 3.32.2 seem to have resolved several issues for me:

  • no problems with subtitles at all, even after pausing or skipping back near the end of a show;
  • no “skaka1001” error when pausing for a while near the end of a show.
  • PMS does not spin into an endless buffering loop anymore after doing several skips back and forward in a row.

Thanks Devs & Happy New Year.

Having the same problem here. It used to work, now it doesn’t. Any news for when it’ll be fixed properly?

I have the same issue. I have stopped my premium account because this is driving nuts ! For now I’m using videostream to cast movies on my TV please Plex do something about it.

Same issue right here. After a few minutes subtitles stop dysplaying

I have this issue

Same problem. Still no subtitles in web player with soft option.

This is still happening to me even on the latest PMS using chrome web player…

This is an issue still. Latest beta server and latest version of chrome. Subtitles work in Xbox and Android.

Perhaps it’s a chrome issue?

I have this issue also. This needs to be fixed!

Having the same issue. Running PMS beta release. Player is a samsung smart TV. Subtitles play for one line of text, and then nothing.

Tried same title in chrome and experienced the same problem. Tried on xbox and same issue.

File is a 13mbs 1080p h.264 about 10gigs. subs we tried are english srt from opensub and a local srt in folder. same issue on both

Same problem here. Just set up new server, migrated settings and library. Subtitles go for one line then disappear.
Vizio TV, Roku Ultra. Have tried multiple different subtitle srts, on multiple different videos. Very frustrating.

Same here even woth newest build on any media (roku tv, roku 3, lg smart tv webos 3) my current build 1.15.3.876

Got this issue too. Plex running on a synology NAS. Subtitles disapear in Chrome web player

I have the same exact issue.
It only appears when playing a .mkv file, other formats are working fine.

I have this problem with embedded subtitles as well as external srt files.
Hoping Plex comes with a fix for this soon.

Same here. First not on the Windows player app. But now also.

Still experiencing this issue in 2019.

Same issue here. Still experiencing shut down of subtitles after I pause playback even for a short duration. Will this issue ever be fixed. Do the devs even acknowledge that a problem exists?

I am experiencing the same issue. My work around is to view the video and it subtitiles from the Apple TV Plex Client. The subtitles display without any problems.

I am having the same issue, but it seems to be only with english subtitles. when i switch to either one of my other languages (spanish or dutch) they seem to work fine.

but, i did find a work around to make the subtitles work again. Well for my, but perhaps will also work for you.
copy the srt file and remove the language abbreviation from the filename.
It will show up in plex as “Unknown (SRT External)”
