Please don't beat me up if this is a silly questions, but.....is plex a client that can download subtitles for you while you're watching a movie that doesn't have subtitles? If I recall correctly, I had it working one time 2 months ago for the movie Elysium, but the subtitles were way off. I'm only asking because I was watching Avatar the other day on a dvdrip, but it had no subs and I really needed subtitles. If someone couldn't point me in the right direction on how to:
Subscene (site) plus jubler or aegissub (for timing adjustments) would be your best combo if you need subs.

You are welcome. From what I understand, there is actually the ability within Plex Media Server, though I have not tried it myself. However, assuming it works, there is still the problem of the right version of the subtitles (eg, extended versus normal editions, dvd versus blu-ray versions... etc) which will affect your viewing pleasure.
Thus, for shows which does not come with subs, what i recommended is my personal preferred choice, which has served me very well so far.
Plex Actually have agent for opensubtitles, it'll show them to choose in the subtitle choose if there are subtitles it found. It actually works horrible so it's not what you need .. Sadly you need to download them manually .. Same with popdnasi agent you can find in the internet

I would say your friend has to take care of that/you and provide the correct subtitle file to his PMS.

The thing is, PlexConnect does not help with subtitles at all. Currently PMS is needed to "burn" the text into the video stream - at least for non-native videos or external subtitles.
I have no idea, how accurate those subtitle files are - how easily they fit to a given video. How should PlexConnect figure that out (is the video captured from TV, DVD, BlueRay, which scenes were cut a little more, ...). I guess, this will always be kind of a manual adaption/testing process.
As a subtitle nut myself I can tell you that the best (and easiest?) way to get subtitles (on the fly) while watching content off of PMS is to use XBMC as your client (with the plexbmc plugin).
It’s super quick and uses open subtitles and podnapisi as sources… if the sync is off on the subtitle you can use a slider setting to compensate and fix it.
Off course you would also need a device that will be able to work with xbmc (openelec or a desktop etc…). I’m afraid that’s what it would take to have the most flexibility when subtitles are concerned…
I can live without subtitles for the most part, but there are just those times when someone is speaking Russian in a movie or something and YOU KNOW ITS SO IMPORTANT and there's no subtitles.
Google translate needs to step up their game. How cool would it be if there was an add-on that could parse the video file and know when its a different language and transcribe subtitles right onto the screen.

So can you please make PlexConnect to change the subtitles enconding when it sees hebrew subtitle.
I mean:
PMS showing subtitles recognised as hebrew>when playing it PlexConnect wil change the encoding to make the rtl work (, . ! ? in the right place). If it is possible, i'll tell you what encoding needed. Is it ? :)
