Metadata wont change

Server Version#: 1.19.2.2737
Player Version#: Plex-Web 4.22.3
So after I added the “Friends” tv show to my plex server and the naming was completely off. It was titling them like: Friends S.01 (1994) - for Hurtom & TNU by Tenax555 & smak2001 instead of The One Where Monica Gets A Roommate.

My thinking was that it did this because the file was titled “Friends S0101 1080p x265.mkv”. So I removed them from the server and put the seasons back on that were titled with the episode name in the filename correctly according to Plex standards. The problem is that the episode names didn’t change. They are still the “for Hurtom” name.

I don’t want to have to go through 10 season and rename all the episodes on by one. I have tried refreshing the metadata on the series itself and a single episode and it didn’t work. Is there a cache that I need to empty to get it to rename them to what is in the filename? Is there anything I can do or am I just screwed?

It’s behaving like it’s pulling those titles from the files’ metadata, but Plex Media Server shouldn’t be doing that with MKV files. What we’d normally suggest for MP4/M4V files is to access Settings -> Agents -> Shows -> TheTVDB (or The Movie Database, if you use that) and moving “Local Media Assets” down in priority (leave it enabled):

After doing that, try performing the Plex Dance on the problem files/directories and see if that helps.

That worked perfectly, Thank you sooooo much. You just lifted a weight of my back.

No problem, glad it worked for you.
