Can confirm! This completey fixes my issue with Iron Chef Episode listings! Thank you Plex Team!
Is there any progress with TMDBs groups? I heavily use this metadata agent because Trakt also relies on it. Some anime were rearranged or have a different airing vs absolute order. I think that “Plex series” most likely matches airing order, so I sometimes do have to apply an explicit sorting ![]()
Hmm is there a trick to getting them to show up? Money Heist, for example, shows Aired, DVD and Absolute options. TVDB only shows Aired and “Alternate”, the latter of which follows Netflix ordering, but that doesn’t appear to be an option in the dropdown. I did refresh meta on the show. Also, can the ordering be forced by the .plexmatch file?
Is your library set to use the “Plex TV Series” agent?
I don’t think you can, at the moment.

First, ensure you’re running server 1.40.4.8598 or later:
Plex Media Server 1.40.4.8598 is now available to Plex Pass users in the Beta update channel.
NEW:
* (Metadata) Add support for additional TVDB episode orderings on TV Show preferences. Requires metadata refresh. (PM-1533)
* (Web) Updated to 4.132.2
Second, ensure you’ve refreshed metadata for the either the entire library, or for the entire show at least.
Third, if you continue to have issues report it in the issues thread for this topic.
I couldn’t get it to work either. I double and triple checked everything, I’m on 1.40.4.8598, I refreshed metadata first for the show only (Money Heist), then the entire library, unmatched the show, then matched it again, but it doesn’t want to show up. I only get Aired/DVD/Absolute. Not sure what’s wrong.
What agent have you set for this library?
Exactly what I’m getting. I am on the latest beta and refreshed meta/unmatched/rematched too. I get the same 3 options but not “Alternative.” I am using the Plex TV Series Agent as well.
I’m using the Plex Series agent, aren’t the others all legacy now, anyway?
TVDB Alternate episode orders now available in 1.40.4 public release.

Hi BigWheel,
Thank you for this group tvdb implementation, do you plan to do the same thing for tmdb?
(they are quite stubborn, refuse to hear anything, even if we prove to them by a + b that they are wrong about the order of the episodes and are content to make groups)
but overall tmdb remains faster and more comfortable than tvdb (which are just as stubborn)
I know it is being looked into but I cannot promise any sort of ETA or even if it will definitely be implemented or not.
I understand, already if it’s under study it’s a good thing.
thank you for answering me, given the size of the forum it’s rare to be able to discuss with a plex employee ![]()
ps: don’t forget to check the bugs I have reported plenty of them to you, but with little visibility on how they are taken into account, but that is not the subject here.
Thank you
This is huge, thank you. Hopefully TMDB is still considered for the feature since it’s the main provider for the Plex mediaverse.
