TMDB and TVDB have the option for Serbian and Croatian. Plex has the option to search TV shows metadata in Croatian (but not Serbian). For movies, Plex doesn’t have the option for neither Serbian nor Croatian.
My primary language is English and I want my Plex to remain in English. But I am also a Serbo-Croatian speaker, and I want to have my Serbian/Croatian films and TV shows in native language. The data on TMDB/TVDB already exists in Serbian/Croatian, I only want the option in Plex to search metadata in both those languages. The option for Croatian already exists for TV shows, but not for movies. The option for Serbian doesn’t exist in neither.
I’m also interested in this. I’d also like to know in general why each language dropdown in various sections of Plex shows a different list of languages - but more specifically, how on earth do Movie libraries and TV libraries don’t have the same list of languages? This seems like it would be harder to maintain than just supporting the same languages everywhere?
Because they gather metadata from different sources. It’s very likely that they will add Serbian, but my understanding is that you want to manipulate the language per title, and I think that’s not gonna happen. Today people create a second library using a different language and share it with the people who speak that language only.
I’m not sure if that’s what you’re referring to, but when I add a film or TV series, I have the option to search for metadata in several languages than my default (English), and if metadata doesn’t exist, it just won’t appear in the search results.
For example, I can search for Croatian metadata in TV Shows (but not in Movies), so it’s already partially implemented.
Just adding the filter option for Serbian and Croatian (among Turkish, Finnish, Hungarian etc.) would do the trick, as most Serbo-Croatian films and TV shows already have metadata on moviedb and tvdb in both Serbian and Croatian.
Anyway, I’d highly appreciate any friendly help with this, by upvoting the issue if you find it at least tolerably acceptible. It’d mean a bunch to a fellow Plex user and supporter.
