Syncing posters and metadata

Server Version#:

I started off with Plex on a Synology NAS at home and copied the data files to an external hard drive that I use as my library source for a Plex server running on a Windows laptop when I’m on my boat. While on the boat I noticed that lots of the posters on the laptop server were incorrect and spent some hours choosing better ones and I fixed the matches on several others. The NAS server is of course still showing the old and sometimes incorrect art.

  1. How can I most easily fix the problems on the NAS to match the Windows server?

  2. Can I somehow synchronize the art, metadata and/or data files automatically in the future?

  3. This was actually the second time that I did this work on the PC, but somehow it changed back to the crappy art. How do I keep it from changing back again?

There’s no immediate solution to sync metadata and assets between different servers. Your best shot to avoid manually fixing stuff is to be super-zealous about your file naming and organization.

Thanks. Additions going forward should be fairly light and easy to control. Is there a way for at least this one time to copy the data to the original server? Then I just assume that there is a setting to keep it from reverting again?
