Synology: Cannot see any folders in share when adding media library

Server Version#:1.18.7.2457

I’m having the same issue as following the linked question.

All my Video files are under ‘Video’ Synology system default shared folder.
There are number of sub-folders with Movie files.
From PlexWeb App, after I select ‘volume 1’ > ‘Video’, there are nothing. Only shows ‘Back’.
Checked shared folder permission and it does have ‘Read’ permission to ‘Plex’ user.

There is a long standing problem when using the pre-created Video share.
The conflict is that DSM (Synology) loves to override any and all permissions at a whim.

It’s done in such a way that even when PMS was running as the administrator, it would still lose access.

The solution to this is:

  1. Create one or more free-standing shares of your own. (Movies, TV, Music, etc)
  2. As you create these share(s), give user “Plex” permission to R/O or R/W the share
  3. Now move your media there.
  4. You will never again be botherd by DSM (unless they fully reformat the database again during a major update . e.g. DSM 6.3.x or DSM 7.0

Arrrrr that was it.
Thank you very much for the quick reply.
Too bad that I will need to re-map all other devices which doesn’t uses Plex, but this helped.
Thank you.

It’s the ONE thing I could never get them to see reason on.
