PMS: ver 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476
DSM: ver 6.2.1-23824 Update 1 Logs.zip (106.6 KB)
Hi, I’ve been having trouble with setting up the Plex web client to “claim” the PMS which is installed on my Synology DS718+.
Having read Triumph81’s post, I installed the PMS version on the Syno, ensured the Plex fileshare permissions were enable (R/W) and started the app on the Syno. The issue for me comes when I’m directed to open the Plex web browser, where I use the Syno IP address and plex port. Using Chrome I open a session and the client finds the server. However when I press to claim my server after 3-5mins I receive a message stating “There is an issue claiming my server”.
Logs are attached.
I then followed the directions to connect to the server via ssh and then using the claimit.sh routine. however this failed to claim the server, this time receiving a message saying it failed to authenticate towards Plex.tv(?). (see screen shot)
Following up on the claim server issue. It seems the DS718 was not connecting out to the internet. Obvious I guess, however I was bewildered why it wasn’t connecting as I had configured as instructed. Eventually it came down to configuring the alternative DNS to 8.8.8.8 (apparently a recommended DNS address having read around) and the everything started to work auto updates etc. I’m still having an issue with claiming the server, but at least it’s not down to internet connectivity.
…Server is now claimed . When I tried claimit.sh again, I received a denied access message from the server. However i used a combination of the method you described in your answer and removing the preferences xml from the plex shared folder.
I’m now able to map my media through the web client now.
