Good Evening All,
So my issues started the other day when I was trying to get Plex to recognize some of the media it was ignoring in my media library. In the end I cleared bundles, emptied the trash, removed the library and went through each file and folder to ensure that they are labelled in a Plex friendly way (TV Show - S00E00 - Episode Name). I then attempted to re-introduce the library to Plex and selected the Plex TV Series Beta agent, as one of my colleagues has been using it to amazing results.
However I am now stuck in a situation where Plex simply will not update any of the metadata. It will go through the process and in console I can see pull requests and image downloads, however after 24-36 hours of the library import being completed I am still stuck with none of the metadata showing in plex, and everything in the library bar the TV Show name is ‘default’ (IE, 'The 100 > Season 1 > Episode 1,2,3 etc…)
Do any of you have any suggestions? I have already tried with other agents, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled PMS onto my NAS (because I have previously had issues with multiple updates corrupting the preferences.xml file, so just wanted to start from scratch with everything to make sure it wasnt just me being stupid).
After a couple of days I think I have figured out the problem.
Im living in china, and it seems like access to the agents is being blocked by the powers that be, and the VPN’s I use dont seem to allow plex’s agent through, so ive managed to get theTVDB and the MovieDatabase working through a VPN connection for now and will have to experiment around with different servers until I get one that allows Plex to talk…
By a synology Nas and use Plex, itll be easy they said… haha
