Synology DSM 7.0.1 update

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173-7000
Player Version#: 1.37.0.2706-5b2cfe50

I’ve just upgraded my DSM from 6 - 7 (7.0.1-42218)

I then did a manual update of Plex Media Server to 1.24.5173-7000.

All players I have now say my Server NAS is unavailable. Am I in trouble? Have I lost my library, and will I have to start from scratch?

okay, so it seems that maybe I should have uninstalled the DSM6 Plex app before installing DSM 7 PMS.

(Is it me or is it totally counter-intuitive that a new install will see your old libraries, but not an “update”?!)

So, I guess I now need to uninstall PMS 1.24.5.5173-7000, restart and try again. Only thing is, I am confronted with three options when I go to uninstall:

  1. Uninstall only
  2. Sign out and unclaim this server
  3. Erase all of Plex Media Server from this system. (Not Recoverable)

I don’t know at this point if option three will erase previous installation’s library files, so I’m frozen…

Forum Search is your friend

  1. As long as you have your full metadata in the “Plex” named shared folder

  2. Uninstall w/ Erase (cleans out the DSM 6 → DSM 7 upgrade mistakes

  3. When everything is cleaned out, the next installation will automatically start Migrating (It will print errors or sit at “installing” for an extended period.

In conjunction with the instructions printed by the installer in its messages (which are tailored to your system) the above llinked instructions will guide you
