As long as you’re using a download from Plex.tv for your machine, you’re good.
The reason not to use Package Store is because it’s too old. It’s a beta app from before DSM 7 was final release. It’s not backward compatible anymore.
As of PMS 1.24.2.4973, when DSM 7 was final release , I was able to release the last things in the Plex package for DSM 7 which needed to be there.
