You should just be able to open the syno by its LAN IP (with you on the same subnet)
http://LAN.IP.of.Syno:32400/web and it’s yours
Checked on Plex.tv. It’s there, waiting for you.

OK - I’m a bit lost now.
Typed in the http link you suggested above, it opens Plex in a Window. It does say there is a new update available, but needs a manual install which puts me in the same boat as previously.
Ignore any references to updates. We’re working on the Syno.
In the left panel, click MORE>
Do you see your Syno?

Yes - My Syno is Cerebro

cool… when you click any of those library sections, do they populate as they should ?
Yip. Everything works as it should - I just cant install any updates.
Hopefully Synology can let me know why when they get to my Ticket.
RIght now , being at 1.29.2 is actually to your advantage.
1.30.x has issues with Dolby TrueHD and EAC3 codecs for most users.
I do hope Synology can clear the issue with your manual install problem .
Be aware, they often tell you to reinstall DSM and try again.
His issue is being able to manually update and dsm telling him his login credentials don’t work for dsm. It’s not a Plex issue.
Yes, am aware. they still often tell the user to reinstall DSM (which I believe has already been tried)
You attempted this in incognito going to the direct IP address correct? Where you have to log back into syno with admin privileges?
Just a quick update - I’ve contacted Synology but they kinda brushed me off. They will only support the version as supplied by Plex to the DSM Package Center. I advised there is an update - but they said it was not supported. I’m hoping Plex will occasionally provide updates via DSM Package Center?
From Synology:
Dear customer,
Based on the screenshot, the Plex package status is up to date on DSM Package Center.
Synology NAS only officially supports the Plex version, which is published via DSM Package Center.
Therefore Plex company should publish a new version with DSM Package Center.
As the Plex Media Server package is a third-party package and not developed by Synology, we are not able to diagnose the issue.
Please contact Plex Support from here: https://support.plex.tv/
Thank you for your kindly understanding.
You can go back to them
1.29.2.6364 which is approved by Synology and published in Package Center.
Please feel free to invite them to inspect their list and then help
Feel free to search for “Plex Media Server” yourself and show them.
Can you install 1.29.2.6364-7000 from Package Center ?
Thanks again
Yes - I have 1.29.2.6364 successfully installed. Hopefully any “major” updates will also somehow come up on Synology Package Center.
