Hastily updated from DSM 6 - DSM 7 - did not uninstall Plex - plz help

Hi,
Here is what I am running:
Synology DS718+
Current System Version: DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 7
Current Plex Media Server: 1.41.2.9200

I hastily updated from DSM 6 to DSM 7 and ignored something about a token during the PLEX installation process after I was forced to update through the package center (Under DSM 6, I always updated manually).
I have since tried to update manually.
I have fixed the permissions.
I can open and login to plex.myip.com.
My server information does not show up on the left side.
I deleted my Synology device from Authorized Devices under Settings.

What do I do? There must be some sort of process or protocol that I can follow to reset my sins being impatient.

Thanks in advance.

I still cannot get my old server to show up on

which permissions did you “fix” and what value did you set ?

Upgrading from DSM 6 → DSM 7 has several steps due to the massive changes in DSM 7.

If you still have all the data in the Plex shared folder then the entire server can be migrated to DSM 7

There are two important parts to the process

  1. You’ll need to uninstall & erase the transient DSM 7 PMS (it’s empty)
  2. you’ll need to ensure System Internal User PlexMediaServer has full control of everything in the Plex shared folder ( "Apply to this folder subfolders and files )

Read here. Ask if you have questions

Be careful as you read. This FAQ details DSM 5 → DSM 7 as well as DSM 6 → DSM 7

ChuckPa - Thank you.

I was banging my head against the wall all weekend.

I believe my ultimate problem is that I was not on the same IP Subnet when I was setting it up. (Server and main watching location are separate.)

Let me ask a few questions?

Is the Plex shared folder now empty (having been migrated by the Plex installer) and moved to the PlexMediaServer shared folder?

In claiming, did you use the ‘Plex Claim Token’ method?
– it works independent of IP address / subnet

In the Plex shared folder, do you have a Migration.log file?
