I have an Synology DS1812+ and PlexConnect runs fine. But when I want to play an MP4 with external srt file it will transcode the whole video with srt. Problem: Synology doesn’t have that much power to transcode the whole video file.
Is there an option that only the srt would be transcoded and not the MP4 and srt both?
Other option is that I mux the srt in the MP4 file, but then the subtitles will be different in size as the ATV handles the subtitles then and not PlexConnect. Then the size of the subtitles will be different depending on the video height of the video itself.
There are plans for a subtitle renderer for PlexConnect that will solve for this scenario, although not all formats.
