Synology no longer / Not Syncing - Stuck on Pending

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-10-03_09-08-07.zip (3.3 MB)

I’m running 2 PMS, both reading the media library from my DS218+ - mostly for redundancy but also because I have many family members on one local account (for simplicity).

One is the Server running on the Synology and the other is running on a Windows 10 machine. The Win10 is for my family, the Synology is solely for me.

I sync all unwatched shows to my device and recently the Plex app on my fully updated iphone X Max started crashing whenever I tried to watch certain shows. It was quite a few of them and I couldn’t figure out a pattern. But I also needed to run a factory reset on my phone so the timing was good and I could start from scratch.

After I reset the phone, I couldn’t sync from my Synology PMS whether I initiated the sync from my phone or from the Web console. It didn’t matter which conversion quality I used it would just get stuck on “Pending”. Un/Reinstalled app. Restarted the Synology server. Nothing worked.

However it DOES work if I sync from the Win10 PMS?

I haven’t changed anything in the past year. Just started noticing it last week. I can stream from the Synology on Wifi AND Cell.

Thanks

That’s odd thing. There is nothing in Sync that mentions the S9 except my phone and the S9 doesn’t show up in Authorized devices or anywhere else that I can see. In fact I don’t think he has that phone anymore? But I will ask him. Should I un/reinstall the PMS software on the NAS? Does preference.xml file store accounts too?

I’m never in a rush with the NAS sync since! I usually only sync to it on the weekends when I’m home. However, I have thought about turning off the Synology PMS all together but the WinPC I’m running is actually a 5+ year old Intel NUC running a mobile Core i5 with not a whole lot of RAM. Since a few devices hit it at the same time regularly for local streaming, I didn’t want to stress it too much but then again, what’s the worst that can happen right? =)

I think I might I have other issues. Just discovered my Synology PMS isn’t properly scanning for new episodes as well it seems. I think I may do reinstall of the package to remove any doubt for starters.

I haven’t been home so I haven’t been able to spend much time on it. But I did log in remotely briefly before I saw you message and removed the libraries from my NAS and readded them. Not sure if that fixed the new episode issue but that seems to be resolved.

I did try to test syncing remotely from both (realizing it’ll be slow) and my Windows Machine started the syncing almost right away while my NAS was stuck on Pending again for quite a while.

I’ll be back home this weekend to explore further.

After poking around I realized in my case - since I’m running 2 servers that are just mirrors of each other - it would be much easier to simply uninstall plex from my Synology, delete any associated lingering folders and files and start from scratch. And it worked. After I installed it the only thing I had to do was fine tune my played/unplayed status on the TV shows and once again, it’s currently syncing one TV show of 8 episodes.

Normally I sync the entire Unwatched library but at 250+ GB I may have to wait until next weekend to attempt that.
