Synology package thread

Make the Info-file look like this :slight_smile:

package=“Plex Media Server”

description=“The Plex Media Server is the ultimate media hub, providing rich metadata for your local media, as well as hundreds of channels of online content, and serving it up to iOS and Android mobile clients, Roku Media Streamers, 2011 LG Smart TVs, and the Plex Media Center.”

maintainer=“Plex Team”

arch=“x86 cedarview

adminport=32400

adminurl=manage

version=0.9.5.2-641fa29

After that, installation went without a hiccup for me on an 1812+. EDIT: Works on 1512+ as well :slight_smile:

Cheers,

Smoker

Thank you very much Smoker! Worked like a charm.

I don't know if it has been mentioned before, or if this is an issue with my version of DSM, but the PMS Icon only opens another default DSM page (ip:port/webman/index.cgi) instead of the Plex page (ip:32400/manage/index.html#home). Not a big deal, just wanted to mention it.

It's on my list of improvements.

Hey FrankM,

I do not have this misbehaviour. Mine ist opening the correct PMS-Page at (ip:32400/manage/index.html#home).

Cheers,

Smoker

Mine too!

Any ETA on 9.5.3 version?

It's allready there - http://plex-downloads.s3.amazonaws.com/0.9.5.3/PlexMediaServer-0.9.5.3-7fb9256.spk

I’m total n00b, got my DS1512+ yesterday :rolleyes:

I’m trying to install the plex v0.9.5.3 on a DS1512+ DMS 4.0 from a MacBook Pro (10.7.3)
[]package center

[
]click on install/update

[]chose PlexMediaServer-0.9.5.3-7fb9256.spk

[
]next
Result: this package is not supported by this DiskStation.

Is this the right way to install?

Problem solved Answer was a few post up… :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't know if it different on Mac, but what I did was
1. stopped the old plex
2. uninstalled it
3. and like you say - install it from the install/update

And that was that..
I'm on a DS712+ and installed from Win7 in crome browser..

EDIT: maybe your file was corrupted

Hello All,

Complete newb here with a Synology DS411+ii. The unit is running DSM 4.0. Today I installed the Plex package for the Synology units. The package installs just fine, and in the package center it shows the Plex Media Server running. However, when I try to log into the Plex manager using http://192.168.1.190:32400/manage (that’s the correct IP address), my browser never gets a response from the DS411. Eventually the browser responds that it could not connect.

The plex user is present in the users box. By all counts the Plex server looks like it is running, but just doesn’t respond on that port. Any ideas?

Thanks very much!

Andy

Nevermind! I didn’t realize that I needed to go into firewall and create custom firewall settings for port 32400. Solved. Thanks!

Just reporting back that the following config seems to be working fine:

Plex media client on osx 10.7.3 on mac mini (think it’s 0.9.5.2b) connecting to

Plex media server 0.9.5.3 on Synology NAS DS1010+ running DSM 4.0

Thanks for all the work.

This is the first time I’ve mode the server off the mac mini to where the media files are stored (ie the NAS) and so far I’m really happy

Hi, Can u pls explain the steps how to install the package. I have a DS1512+, running DSM 4.0 and a Mac. :blink:

Problem almost solved, Answer was a few post up… :stuck_out_tongue:

Do anyone know if the DS1010+ is powered enough to transcode several streams of 720P?

I have like 6-8 users on my windows box running the PMs9.5.3, connected with a network share to my 1010+.

But if the 1010+ is good enough id rater run it on that. If not, is the 1812+/1512+ good enough?

hi All

Just got a DS1512+ myself and made the change to the INFO file to cedarview. (as above). After a few ‘fights’ with using Tar under windows (i used GnuWin32) i managed to change and ‘tar’ the file up again.

It uploads just fine but the installation essentially states that the ‘Installation Failed’ and Plesk Media Server appears under installed as ‘broken’.

My setup is latest DSM 4.0-2198

My created psk file IS bigger then the one i downloaded: 52,725,760 bytes. however normally when the .tar is not correct it states File format not valid… . I have to use tar -cvf .tar * to actually create it. 7zip does exactly the same.

I do have MediaServer package installed but i hope they can live side by side?

Hope anyone can help

Hi,

can I install the Plex APP on an DS412+ I want to buy them in some Days. But it would great to know it before, if I can install this Plex app ( Plex media server 0.9.5.3 )

Thanks for your Help and Answers.

I will think so, seems that it is a Intel based "cedarview" and then the package should install..
Maybe someone who has this one could confirm...

Maybe it's time for a update in the first post - what's working out of the box, and witch one's have to be tweaked with...

Hi Guys,

This is probably a really stupid question, but I haven’t been able to find the answer. If I upgrade to the last version, do I just need to install the new package over the old one? Will I keep all the metadata, watched info, etc or will it need to rebuild?

Which paths should I backup if I want to ensure that I keep all this information, in case the upgrade encounters issues?

Thanks!

/Ray

What about DS712+ ?
It has an Intel Atom D425 Monocore (1C/2T) 1.8GHz x86 Processor 64-bit@DDR3, 1GB of RAM so I guess it meets the system requirements?
Is that correct ?

That I can answer - I'm running it on 712+ also with the latest build from Synology

anyone know how to install the dvd order agent on a synology?

i need to access the ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plugins folder
