Synology package thread

I'm not at home so I can't say for sure, but I think it's either under:
/Volume1/Plex/...
or /Volume1/@appstore/...

Hi everyone! I read everything in this thread and googled around for quite some time but I can’t find the answer.

I have a DS412+ with DSM 4.0 and PMS v0.9.5.3 installed. I DO NOT have avahi installed, do I need to have everything running properly? When I start PMS I can see it on my iPad and so on, so the server is working. The problem is when I try to add a library in media manager, I find the right folder but there’s no movies or TV-series showing after I’ve added them. the Plex user has access to the folder, although I can only see my admin account being logged in from my mac mini. The folder is on volume1, video/temp and only contains two files just to try to figure this out. The files are named Coraline 2009.mkv and Eastern Promises 2007.mkv. I’ve also tried (2009) and (2007). There are no other characters involved. If I click the reload button in the bottom right corner nothing happens, and if I Alt+click it the library section starts spinning and goes on for hours. This is what the log looks like when I try to add a library:

Hi, i made this (with Keka compressor on OSX), and can´t install it on my 1812+!!, can you send me the spk via mail, plz? numanmania2@mac.com
Thx in advance

Next beta will contain a proper fix for this out of the box.

for the new NAS models?, yeah!!!

Anyone can point me in the right direction.

I recently installed Plex Media Server Package on a Synology DS2411+ NAS Device.

The Package Version is: v0.9.5.3

It seemed to be working quite well the first few days, but now what happens is, that the Plex Server suddenly crashes (or at least can no longer be accessed through the web gui)

In the DSM, I can get to the package details and stopp and restart the service. It will work again for a while after I do this.

While the service is down, I can not access the log through the package manager, and once I restart the server, the log does not show older entries.

Now I know that you should be able to SSH into the NAS and then look for the log file there.

Can anybody tell me where that log file is located in the linux filesystem?

Or any other files, places I can look to troubleshoot this issue?

I read somewhere that special characters in file names can trip Plex when it is scanning the library, Could that be the problem?

The user has a lot of Umlauts (ö, ü, ä) in his filenames, as that is often the case in German.(we are in switzerland, but use german for writing)

Thanks for any help and pointers.

Have you solved the problem ?
What browser are you using?

Look at /volume1/Plex there you'll find subfolders one being a log folder with a bunch of different types of log files. At least that's where they are on my DS411+

I had some issues getting my media to show up on my DS411+. Initially I had everything working, but it was setup a while back with much older packages and then updated as new ones came out. I uninstalled it for some reason (I forget) wiped the /volume1/Plex folders (so no stale data is left behind), and then reinstalled it and ran into this issue. I then did that same thing again using this package http://plex-downloads.s3.amazonaws.com/0.9.5.3/PlexMediaServer-0.9.5.3.309-cf5540b.spk and then everything was showing up again. I dunno if it was just coincidence that it worked, or the fact that I uninstalled/reinstalled a few times till it worked.

In any event, between the different stages (uninstall/wipe old Plex folder/reinstall) I rebooted the nas between each step.

I have Synology DS411+ii - with Plex 0.9.5.3 Installed, and after installation I can’t get into PMS.

What is username and password for fresh installation?

Or, there is the possibility to edit the password from linux consola?

HELP.

Sounds like you are not on a standard local network range. Your problem should go away by installing 0.9.6.0

where I can find 9.6.0 for synology NAS?

I am downloading beta version. I report what will heppen.

You were right. Verssion 9.6.0 is werking without problems.

Can someone lease supply the correct link to download 9.6.0 thank you, is that the latest version?

The linux download section would be a good place to look: http://www.plexapp.com/linux/linux-pms-download.php

Its the beta link under synology.

Anyone with a working version of Python for the Cedarview Synology?

Will this work on the DS110J ?

I have the exact same issue. Perhaps someone else has figured this out?? When I create accounts for remote users, the Plex Media Server is available to them in the menu. I would prefer, of course, that this not be available. As Plexio pointed out, Plex doesn't show up in the list of packages that can be permitted/restricted for access. I have tried various permutations of folder access (including the Plex folder) to no avail. Anybody have any ideas? I only today realized this as I created a new user, and was testing their interface before sending them the credentials. I noticed that both Plex and the Photo Station is listed in the menu, no matter what privileges I establish for them. Other packages are fine. For instance, I allowed access to File Station, with only the shared Music folder, and that works just fine. For another user, they have File Station with Movies, Music and TV Shows. Again, fine. -- Except that they both have access to Plex (and Photo Station) regardless of application privileges established. Any ideas?

Regards and thanks in advance,

WhiteRus

Latest DSM Software
DSM 411+ii

Hi,
I tried to install version 0.9.5.3 from the package center. (DSM4) And now I've been trying to install the new version. But nothing works properly because I have not been able to delete the shared folder Plex (volume1/Plex).
I tried from control panel but nothing happens. I tried with terminal:
1. ssh root@xxx.xxx.x.xx
2.enter password (message: BusyBox v1.16.1 (2012-05-10 02:40:15 CST) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.)
3.tried to remove the volume1/Plex with "remove the /volume1/Plex folder with "rm -rf /volume1/Plex" from terminal
but nothing happens.

What can I do to go the total annihilation and restoration as you suggested ?
Thank you

i got the same problem.

Got my 1512+ yesterday, installed plex and it worked, then i did something with the plex groups and today it didnt start.

I uninstalled, and reinstalled but it didn’t work, then i reed that u have to delete shared folder, but that seems impossible.

i also tried to update to 9.6.3, but that didn’t work either.

Please help.

EDIT: Forgot to reboot after i updated to 0.9.6.3, now it works
