Synology package thread

Is there a way to upgrade through the package manager, or do we have to do it manually?

I am gong to buy a NAS soon and thinking of buying the Synology 1812+. I want to run Plex and am especially attracted to its ability to get Metadata, to be able to play on Android and Ipad and to a TV connected to a jail broken Apple TV connected to a TV. I also especially like the ability to use an iPad to scroll through and select movies on the actual iPad, but run them on a different client (e.g. the TV connected to the Apple TV). From what I read on the Plex site thoug, it seems this latter ability is only available using a Plex server running on a Windows or Mac server? I that right? If so, are there any other differences between the Synology version and MAC and Windows versios? Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m having a problem when I play a movie, I select a movie, the popup says please wait and then immediately disappears. I have no problems with any of the other media (TV Shows, Music, or Photos). I just upgraded to 9.6.3 from 9.5.3 and have the identical problem. There appears to be nothing in the log on the Synology to give a hint as to what it wrong. Any suggestions?

hi have have been running PMS on my DS412+ for 2 weeks now. and have comme a cross some bugs:

]there seem to be a fix video delay of ~500-250ms compare to the audio

If i try to access the server remotly i get ask for a user name and password. but i don’t have any option to set it. (work around set it up with myplex and get access token.)

anyone know how to do force update thingy on synology? i need to try this, because plex client on my lg tv doesnt show all the external srt subtitles

I install the last version but after 2 days of working, plex wasn’t available. I uninstall the package. Restart. Erase the Volume. Restart. Reinstall the package. And now it’s not working :

I don’t know how to give you, all the log file of PMS.

I have been running plea on the synology DS1511+ for a while. Did an update thru the DSM package center and after the update I no longer have any agents. Any ideas how to restore the agents?

Got the same issue (agents not working) since 3 days and restarting the NAS, stopping the package and starting again hasn’t helped…

Hi all.



I am trying to get PMS running on my new Synology DS412+ (DSM 4.0) but it is not going so well. It was easy to install the stock PMS v0.9.6.3 directly from Synology via the Package Manager, and that mostly seemed to work, but then I ran into some snags where several TV series wouldn’t get picked up by the scan unless I moved the episodes up one level from the “Season X” folders. (the same shows and folder structure scanned fine when they were served from my iMac).



But that’s not the problem I’m worried about.



I decided to try upgrading to the latest Synology build, which seems to be v0.9.6.7 presently. I thought I should be able to download the .spk from the PLEX download site and install it manually via PM. The problem is that everytime I try it, once I “choose” the new .spk from my local hard drive and click “upload” the PM pops up a progress dialog that appears to be doing something, but it sits there looking busy for hours until I finally give up and restart the DSM session to kill it.



I rebooted the NAS and tried again … no joy

I uninstalled the original PMS and deleted the PLEX share folder and user account and tried again … no cigar

I downloaded the previous .spk (v0.9.6.6) and tried again … pound sand



So seeing as how manually installing a PMS .spk appears to be a task that everyone else is able to do, I have to conclude that this boils down to “operator error”.



In other words I am doing something wrong or not doing something right and I would graciously accept the help of anyone that would be willing to let me know the right way to install a PMS .spk on an Intel based Synology NAS.

I still have an issue with the DS412+, when I launch PMM, and try to log into myPlex account I get the invalid user, it must be a setting on the DS412+ I’ve overlooked



I’ve installed and run PMS on a Win7 desktop, I can log this into myPlex account without issue, that would suggest that there is no issue with my router’s firewall and port forwarding



If any owners of DS412+ have been able to login to myPlex via the PMM running through port 34200 on the DS412+ please confirm, and if you have any particular setting on the DS412+ firewall let me know

then add mail and password to the myplex login. worked like a charme for me.

Everything is fine on my DS411+ except that local subtitles are not scanned correctly.

I tried S01E11.fr.srt, S01E11.fre.srt and S01E11.french.srt, same issue…

My PMS version is : 0.9.6.7.204-266f05d (same issue with version 0.9.6.3.xxx)
