Synology package thread

what is the output of

http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:32400/servers

and

http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:32400/library/sections

Am using PMS on a DS1512+. My daughter noticed that certain files from a show she was planning on watching were missing from the folder. Sure enough, I have those files placed in folder along with ten other files. These are .avi’s and are named in similar fashion to the ten other files. The ten files are being indexed but not the first nine.

I have tried re-scanning the folder and removing the Library Section and re-adding with no success. Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot?

Hi,

it doesnt matter if they are named similarly, they are scanned individually, you can check out the naming guide here -> http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/Media_Naming_and_Organization_Guide

I don’t see new content automatically since upgrading to 9.6.9.240 on my Synology DS1511+ box. If I force a rescan everything pops up. I have the Detect Changes option selected but not to have it rescan my files every hour as I’d like the hard drives to sleep when not in use.

Thanks @Trudge

Seems odd that half the files get indexed but not the others; they are all the same file formats (.avi) and all have the exact same name convention. Anyway, I just renamed all files (including the ones that were previously indexed) and doing a re-scan now. Let's see if that works.

-UPDATE: Okay now all 22 episodes are there. Thanks again.

Ok, so I got the same problem and I found out how to fix it.

Writing here so people wiith the same problem will find it
FIX FOR plex media server requires a username and password

When you click on the link provided by synology it will be with the url you've gotten from synology.me or whatever.
Plex media then thinks you're logging on from the internet, and asks for username/PW, and obviously you can't log in to an unlinked media server.

So here's what you do:
Instead of "http://xxxxxxx.synology.me:32400/manage/index.html" find the IP address for your synology server.
For example: **192.168.0.197** (you can find out your IP address if you go to your Synology Diskstation, Control Panel, Network, Network Interface).

When you've found the Synology IP, replace http://xxxxxxx.synology.me:32400/manage/index.html with **192.168.0.197**:32400/manage/index.html.
**Remember** that the IP address I posted is just an example, find **YOUR** IP from the way I wrote above

Thank you for your answer. It works well.

But what surprise me is that there is no kind of authentication. I just use my public IP address and got directly into the library manager (I had a synology DSM connection open though).

With the new Plex version 0.9.7.3.317 I get no artwork to load up and some of the Media flags are not showing up properly. Its just a cosmetic issue. Anyone know why it may do that?

If you are using a ARM version that is a known issue (Missing artwork) that will be fixed in the next release.

Ok Great! How about when saving Server Preferences it not always saves them - in some cases you get a message in some you dont.

I also get quite a few of these:

<br />

And as I said earlier the Media Flags show up as missing icons on the detail page (The ones directly under the artwork or where it is supposed to be). There also seem to be 2 missing icons to the right hand side of the page but I cannot seem to figure out what they are meant to be.
At the moment I can't even seem to get to the page as apparently all my media is currently unavailable. Whatever that means...

Hi,

i just installed Plex Version 0.9.7.3.317 on Synology 211+.

After adding a Library, my movies are scanned just fine (no do not change the Metadata Agent Settings). Every description was found just fine in English language.

But there was no Cover for any movie.

I removed the Movie Library and added Moviepilot to the Metadata Agents. After that i moved Moviepilot to the first line, restarted Plex and added my Movie Library again (with Plex Scanner / Freebase / Deutsch).

The Movies were scanned again and all descriptions were found in German language.

But again not a single Cover.

Any idea?

Thanks

explained 2 posts above your post.

Ups... Sorry :-)

I was having trouble doing this as well. I was trying to install from Safari on 10.8. After a few software updates for Safari and Mac OS X, it doesn't happen anymore. I may have needed to install a new version of Java as well, as my problem I think had something to do with the package of Java that comes with Mountain Lion being out of date. So the solution for me was to use another browser, and the more permanent solution was to download all of my software updates, and download the manual Java update from Oracle, I believe. Hope this helps!

This is still broken... You have to manually refresh have no choice!

Model: DS413j (ARM)

Plex: 0.9.7.3 (& 0.9.7.2 preview)

My PMS crashes literally all the time. When I start the service and it’s idle, there’s no problem. Only when I browse with a client (Win, Android) and play a movie, after about a minute PMS crashes and I have to restart it manually. Maybe a genious here finds out why. I assume it has something to do with the media scanner, looking at the log…

Is the arm version of plex shutting down constantly while scanning folders a known issue as well as I just updated the synology plex server for arm based servers on my nas and I find my plex server is constantly shutting down during the time it's supposed to be on.

Should I turn debugging back on as I thought maybe that is why it was constantly shutting down. Is there anything I can do to stop the unexpected shut downs besides turning off the hourly updates or waiting for a new version to be put in the plex pass area?

Hey, I had the same issue. It seems that "updating" the package screws something up. I needed to delete everything that had to do with Plex, including moving the Library and removing the setup user - restarting and installing plex again. You can then move the Library back as long as you leave out the plug-ins and other settings and it should then work fine after that - mostly at least.

I now get issues with accessing the webclient as for some random reason it just doesn't connect anymore as if the webclient has gone to sleep?! Very weird - you'd have thought that this should be accessible at all times.
Funnily enough the media scanner keeps working...

So do I just uninstall plex like usual Chaosmaker or do I have to delete some files after that as I am new to owning a nas and never got beyond the installing and uninstalling stuff on it.

Well what I did was this:

uninstall the package from the package manager

remove the plex user

SSH into the NAS

mv the \volume1\Plex directory so it seems like it was deleted (you may want to keep your Library) if not you can delete it

make sure you also remove the shared folder from the synology control panel

restart the NAS

install the new plex server - and hopefully it should run

At least that worked for me… however there are a couple of problems with the ARM version which i hope will be sorted out quite soon
