Synology Transcoding Loop?

I hope this is the correct place to post this question.

I have noticed for the past couple of weeks my little Synology (DS215j armv7l) has been running with Plex Transcoder taking a lot of the cpu processing power.

Checking what little debug I was capturing I noticed that the file(s) Plex Transcoder Statistics were referencing TV shows.

Last night I had some time to dig in a bit and enable debug to try and capture what was going on. After enabling debug and restarting the plex server I noticed the line:

I checked today and noticed that at the time my maintenance started (0500 and allowed to run until 2300) that I received the same within the Debug:

I am not receiving any notification within the GUI (like I would normally see) that it is detecting intros.

I would have thought that if even if it ran out of time during the maintenance period that the number of items should have decreased, even if it only had time to do a hand full of them?

Any suggestions on settings to alter or try? I assume if I turn this feature off and on again then it will want to re-scan ALL the TV episodes again?

Yep, it did it again at 05:00. I forgot to grab the debug but I stopped the Plex Service and then cleaned the database and bundles (just in case) and then started it up again and then I got:

I have checked the Plex Transcoder Statistics.log file(s) and it is the same episodes as yesterday appearing within.

I have checked gone to my media and PlexMediaServer folders and triple checked that PlexMediaServer has Read&Write Perms. I even (the other day) clicked on the apply to this folder, subfolders and files option so it would re-write the perms.

The Detection folder is writing out the audio files for the TV episodes and the fingerprint scanner is kicking in.

I have just unchecked intro detection against the TV show category, debug now shows:

I still have a fair amount of lines:

The GUI is at least showing it is generating them.

Once it is finished, I will try putting back on intro detection and see what happens when I restart the server service.

Placing intro detection back on and I am back to where I was earlier.

and looking at the Plex Transcoder Statistics.log file, it looks like it is the same episodes again.

I suppose the only possible next route is to delete the TV library and start again?

I want to let you know…

Engineering is aware that sometimes changing media (because of how the timestamps get changed when media is added)

They are working on resolving that special case.

I have just deleted the TV library and added it back in.

After deleting the library and adding it back in again, upgrading to Version 1.29.2.6334 and then letting maintenance kick in, I am back in to intro detection loop:

I have disabled intro detection for now, It’s a bit too much for my little arm processor to be caught in a loop :slight_smile:
