In plexamp if I tap a track the black dialogue section slides up asking if i want to play, add to playlist, play next, etc. This already pops up if you hit the 3 dots next to the track so why not make tap instant play? Would be much faster and intuitive.

Tapping an item seems to start playing it right away for me. The context menu will only pop up if I long-press an item…
If that’s different for you… on what platform are you experiencing this and with what version of Plexamp?
Enable “1-tap playback” in the settings.
The idea is to protect your current play queue, which you might have created with some effort, like filtering and/or adding more tracks manually.
If you just want to sample a track e.g. to identify it, consider activating the “prelisten” buttons. (in the “Advanced” preferences)
