Hi, the current Enhanced Video Player is not displaying Thai characters for subtitle correctly as attacted picture. It should display like this text “หัวหน้าเอิน”, not like this “ห ัวหน ้าเอ ิน” (not a dotted circle with an accent). The problem is occurred with .srt and .ass subtitles with Apple TV and iOS app. Do you know how to fix this? Or it’s a bug? Thank you.

Yeah, I think so. Anyway, the easiest way for me is to give you the .srt file to test with any video since the problem is with the texted subtitle. This is the file I have tested on my devices (iOS and Apple TV OS) and still generated the dotted circle with an accent. Sorry that I could not give you the sample video because it’s too confusing for " Use the dd command" method from the article you provided me. So. this is the sample .srt file: https://subscene.com/subtitles/ready-player-one/thai/1866163 I think you can use this to any video file, right?
Again, for example, the first text of this .srt file must be “โคลัมบัส โอไฮโอ ปี 2045”, not “โคล ัมบ ัส โอไฮโอ ป ี 2045”

I have the exact same problem, switching off the enhanced player gets around it at least on my Apple TV and the iOS app but I hope there’s a fix coming soon.
To clarify it happens to any content I play that has Thai subtitles. I’m pretty confident the enhanced player isn’t handling the characters properly. To anyone who isn’t experienced with typing in Thai, to type ‘ตัวอย่าง’ for example, one would type ‘ต ัวอย ่าง’ and the diacritical marks are automatically merged into their respective characters. The enhanced player seems to be handling each diacritical mark as an individual character rather than displaying them as merged (eg. ย and ่ into ย่).
I haven’t forgotten about this, I’ll take a look Soon™

Seems to be something related to the internal video player we use (mpv). I installed mpv for macOS and it works perfectly there, but in our iOS/tvOS app and in Plex Desktop, those characters are rendered bad as you show in the screenshot.
We’ll probably need to upgrade the mpv version we use inside our apps, or something related. We’ll investigate further!
