The App no longer accesses my NAS server

Server Version#: 1.23.6.4881
Player Version#:

I’m not sure what you’re asking for above?
My Desktop is Windows 10,
Plex Media Server is stored in my NAS, Western Digital PR 2100
Plex Media Server Version 1.23.6.4881
If you need other information please let me know.

Here’s my problem:
I’ve been running Plex on my WD for a couple of years now without fail. A few days ago I merged my original account with my email account, I had assumed they where one in the same. Now, the Plex App is not accessing my WD PR2100 server. As a result my content is not shown. How do I get the App or account to read my WD server.

Please advise

Either sign-out the server and reclaim it using the actual/new/merged/main account – or add your actual/new/merged/main account as a friend to the server and share your libraries with it.

The app tell me that I can’t add myself as a friend. Not the old account or the email one.

There must be a way to navigate the app to my server.

Any other suggestions?

Use 1 account for both.
I suppose this should be the one with the Plex Pass so you don’t lose any features.

Yeah…I’m not sure what you are getting at? Because both accounts were merged, now there’s only one account and it doesn’t link to my server. I have Lifetime Plex Pass, but that don’t seem to matter.

Doesn’t Plex have support staff? This should be a simple fix?

So far you had been talking about 2 separate accounts that got things mixed up.

Your new account not seeing your server implies the server itself isn’t running under that account.
If that’s the case, you should be able to access your server using the old(?) account and go to Settings >[Server Name] > General. There you can click Sign-Out to unlink the server from whatever account it’s currently linked to.

If you cannot access your server through any web ui at this stage, you can also try following the “I locked myself out” procedure and remove references to the account from the server’s data directory.

Where is this “settings” toggle located? When I click on the Plex web app, under Setting, “server name” doesn’t appear anywhere? Nor in my WD server?
Also with regards to " Why am I locked out article.
How do I access my Plex Media File in the WD server? When I cut & paste the address suggested my browser, Duck duck go, won’t let me go there. It doesn’t like the /mnt/ address.
Have no Plex Media Files to backup on my windows desktop. According to the registry.

Also

when I sign into plex webb, I get this message.

Which is where my app is located in my WD

That happens when you’re not signed in as the user owning the server.
Do you still have the credentials of that account?

On the WD PR 2100 the file should be under /mnt/HD/HD_a2/plex_conf/Plex Media Server/. You might need to SSH into the server to be able to access those folders.

I’m not what you mean by “credentials of that account”? How would I know and how would I reestablish if I lost them? When I sign in my Lifetime Plex Pass stills shows up under account status. I manually updated my Plex server version to 1.26…, I was hoping that the setup wizard would kick in but no luck there either, I can’t even force it to run.

That’s the address the plex article states. I’m reading up on the SSH usage in Win 10 or downloading PuTTY and running that. I have to do my home work.

You didn’t mention you lost those credentials (login/password).
That basically only leaves you with SSH’ing into the machine and to perform the “Why am a I locked out…” procedure.

Simply updating the server will do you no good.
That’ll leave your server linked to the old account

My login & password are still the same, that’s never changed.

I went into Win 10 power shell editor and at the command line pasted in

/mnt/HD/HD_a2/plex_conf/Plex Media Server/

It gave me a syntax error message. So I don’t know what to do know? Or hoe do I do it correctly?

Let’s go back to clarify some basics:

  • Your Plex Media Server is installed on the WD PR 2100, not on your Windows machine?
  • What is it with those accounts? In your OP you mentioned an “original account” and an “email account” – obviously only one account can own a server and other accounts cannot see/access that server’s content unless you specifically grant them access (otherwise anybody could simply access everybody’s servers).

Yes, PMS in located in WD PR 2100.
AS far as I know I only ever had one account, my current user name elxsand. A few weeks ago I linked in an account, on my phone. see attachment. After that nothing worked, As far as I know it may not have been working, App WD server comm, at that time. I don’t know?
All’s I know for sure is that when I sign in, with the credentials I have always had, my content under “Your Media” is not there. How do I get the App to read my Media?

That’s kind of critical to know / understand

What do you mean by that?
Did you use an option to link your Plex account with Google / Apple / …?
https://support.plex.tv/articles/use-federated-authentication-to-sign-in/

Have you by chance been invited by somebody else who accidentally invited you into their Plex Home?
https://support.plex.tv/articles/203888038-how-do-i-leave-a-plex-home/

No, no invite. I was relinking my TV, and I used my iphone instead of my desktop to approve. I haven’t linked any other accounts to Plex. I checked under the accounts settings.

You mention this before, and I don’t see this option when I go to Settings?
It’s not recognizing my server as a host?

Also, I uninstalled the PMS app on WD PR2100. Reinstalled it and then hit the Configured App button in PR2100. I’m hoping for the wizard to show up and map me to the app. But this is what pops up instead.

Application is not hosted? that’s the web address. It wants me to sign in with my email v. my username “elxsand”.

That’s the expected behavior. Simply uninstalling/updating the app will not get rid of your previous server configuration.

The warning is to ensure you know that you’re directly connecting to the server – it’s to avoid somebody accidentally connecting to a server they don’t know or some fishing site.

What happens if you click Sign-In – anything different from your previous attempts (e.g. when you check Settings… does it show your server settings or only those for your account and Plex Web)?

No server settings, this is what I get.

If I run config in PR 2100, I get the warning previous shown and my setting looks like this.

It’s a little different, but neither connect to my PMS on PR 2100.
