Hey. Now again, it teased watching movies on plex. It said the connection is not strong enough to play this video. Why did it say it again even though my router is not in a closet and that I 1000,100 mbit. It works now when I turned my router on and off. But why did it tease so much again even though I have so strong an internet now? It’s been many, many months since it last teased.
sometimes plex says the connection to the server is not strong enough to play the movie. Please try again or select a lower playback quality? And it is both with 720p, 1060p and 2160p. Is not it because I use the mkv it can not take, And I do not have plex pass. Do I need to be able to play 2160p? I really need you to help me here.
That message will appear if the server cannot transcode. It will transcode if file is not compatible or a network too slow, or quality settings are set too low. Change your quality settings in player to maximum first and maybe turn off auto adjust quality. is that is not the issue then look at your server logs and/or player logs to determine why it is asking the server to transcode at the time you hit play
But is it because I need to convert the files to mp4 files? Mvk is not compatible with it. my network is very strong. my internet is 1000/100 mbit.
It being an mp4 file would not matter. All clients can play mp4 especially Plex Media Player. If you are playing locally your internet speed does not matter either only the local speed between server and client.
it will code If file is not compatible? I do not understand. What do you mean though?
if for example HEVC video stream was not supported then it would need a transcode. but that is supported in Plex Media Player.
But many of my files are mvk. And I have read that they are not compatible. i simply do not understand what is wrong. Sometimes it says so, other times it doesn’t. It comes in periods.
Men får jeg ikke beskeden fordi at Filerne er mvk?
mkv files are fine with Plex Media Player
I have at least read that Mvk is not compatible? But if that’s not why I’m getting this message? It affects me a lot and it just has to work.
I can’t read whatever language that is. MKV files are compatible with Plex Media Player. A file is more than it’s extension. the video stream and audio stream could be something that is not supported. like if your computer or receiver does not support DTS audio then it might need to transcode the audio.
Look in your server logs. or the player logs to see why it thinks it needs to transcode.
I Can translate that. No Mvk is not fine.
Part 1: Solving Plex Media Server cannot play MKV
- Is MKV a compatible format on Plex Media Server?
No. To play videos in Plex directly, MP4 encoded with H.264 and HEVC is the best choice. However, when you need to stream MKV in Plex Media Server, MKV’s video and audio codec is automatically encoded by Plex. Of course, you can also convert MKV to Plex and adjust the various parameters according to your requirement. - How to fix Plex Media Server that does not recognize MKV?
If you can find it in the recently added column but still cannot open MKV in Plex Media Server, make sure the name of the MKV file is legal. Only remove numbers, symbols, and other wired characters from the filename of MKV files. In addition, you should also be aware of the large MKV files that can still freeze in Plex. - How to fix no sound problem when playing MKV in Plex?
When you encounter a problem that Plex is playing MKV without audio, it means that Plex is not compatible with the audio codec of the video file. MKV is just a container format that stores various video, audio, image or subtitle codecs. MKV files with DTS audio will e.g. Be played in Plex without sound in Plex Media Server. - Why does Plex Media Server stop playing MKV files?
Plex is an excellent media service, but not a good video player. It is used to stream multimedia files. All media content in the library plays smoothly. When it comes to local MKV files, you better convert MKV to MP4 and play in Plex. Additionally, when you convert MKV videos to MP4 file format, you can reduce the video size. Part 2: The ultimate ways to play MKV files in Plex
As mentioned above, the MKV files do not work well with Plex Media Server, whether it is an audio codec problem or MKV files that are not recognized by the program, you can use the following method to correct MKVs that are not played in Plex Media Server.
Method 1: How to convert MKV to Plex as a profession
When you need to convert MKV to Plex compatible formats, Video Converter Ultimate allows you to make MKV the optimal Plex video format. It also allows you to adjust video codec, frame rate, bit rate and several other parameters. Select and add the desired subtitle / audio track to the output format. In addition, you can compress the MKV files, improve the video quality and apply video filters.
The only client that does not suport mkv is the web player. You said you were using Plex Media Player which plays them fine. whoever wrote that does not know what they are talking about and is making generalizations because they are not bothering to figure out the real reason
I suggest you look at your logs and stop making random guesses
That is incorrect. I direct play/direct stream/transcode .mkv just fine.
Also please note that mkv is just the container, whatever A/V codec is inside will matter more (as has been pointed out before)
You can check which A/V codecs your files are using and maybe look at the bitrate to get some clues.
BTW:
The connection is not strong enought to play this video is the most meaningless and missleading error message plex has to offer
Could be everything from HW failure to actually a ■■■■■■ connection.
It has been going on for several years for me. But it does not fit what you say. I have taken what I have written from a website.
It’s plex media server I use my plex on. The Plex media player no longer exists.
I don’t know what that means. Plex Media Player does exist ( though i would use the mac/windows specific app instead). The server is not a player. Do you men you are using the web browser player?
