Not sure how to provide server logs without giving away personal information (emails being used), so would love a tip on that before I share.
What is happening:
- During playback the video and audio freeze after roughly 25-38 minutes
- This started happening roughly one week ago
I did some digging, and found a review on the Play Store about this new update causing similar issues, although their time it takes to freeze is close to half of what mine is. At the time of this post, their review has 12 “thumbs up” including mine which is far and away the most for recent reviews.
Their review:
New problem. Version 7.29.x on mobile and TV both freeze playback after 13-17 mins into any video. Web Ui and Plex for Kodi on those same devices have no such playback issues.

What I’ve tried to do to fix:
- Log in with three different users on the same TV
- Play back different file types (avi, mp4, mkv) in either h264 or h265
- Reinstall the app on my TV
- Factory reset my TV to complete defaults and reinstall
- Enabling network logging, but it turned off after ~20 minutes (before the issue occurs)
Some other information:
- Both Tautulli and Plex’s activity page show that the video is still playing while it is “frozen” on the TV
- In continuation of the last point, when pressing back and then continuing playback, time has passed since the video “froze”
- The same files play fine on Plex Media Player, plex.tv, and iPhone
System information:
- Running on Unraid
- TV is hardwired
