Hi,
The player and player are on ComputerA, i can start a song using the mouse on computerA
I can then, control what is being played easily with a android plex app on CellphoneB or the webpage on computerC by clicking next,previous, pause, add media to queue.
However, if player on computerA is stopped. I can’t add any file or make any file play. iget the following message. The server “X” does not have a valid connection for casting. Check that the server is claimed
I did
-restart computer
-made sure nothing else is running
-no antivirus, no windows defender anti-malmware active.
-I tried with different player and remotes
I can open a webplex page on computerC and start playback from phoneB. It works
i cannot start playback from computerC webplex controlling plex player on computerA.
I cannot start playback fron computerA plex player controlling webplex computerC.
On all of this, is the playback is started, I can add to queue and control the transport.
All of this is done on windows10.
I think it’s quite weird that I can do everything except start a playback. It also means I cannot start the player from my phone and would have to go in vnc and click on the player to start something before being able to control it from my phone. I’m currently looking at my option for a media player option to work for my house. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, I just installed plex today, I had to many problems with kodi. So I have very limited experience with Plex yet.

I don’t mind paying for an application to support the development. But for some reason, I can’t use this application. I need remote control from my android device. It works with plexamp, that would be a good enough alternative for audio playback (even though I need to change the audio device the another audio device and choose the previous to finaly have it working, every time I startup plexamp, which makes it a no go for me, it needs to be working by itself without additionnal manipulation, as it’s going to be hidden in a rack in a closet space.) but not for video playback.
But this plex environment is giving me soo many problems, I only listed 1 on here to start and awaiting support. Should I expect a response or should I just forget about it?
-plexamp : need to reselect output each time plexamp opens
-server app crashed on my first video playback on a roku tv. I played 1hr xxmin, and i rewinded 2min, then it started buffering andd finally crashed.
-plex player cannot be remotely controlled
-plex android app cannot close notification, the thread about this is 3years old and is just sitting there no answer
I love the webapp, although I don’t need it, it’s really a well thinked software.
How is the support from plex team? I’d love to pay for this app if I can it to work properly
