The thing with Chromecast and 1080i

Hello,
i have a Chromecast first gen an a Chromecast 3 gen. both doesn’t support the 1080i format. But the server is streaming all files with 1080i as directplay. So that doesnt’t work correctly. Please update the settings for the Chromecast so the server convert from 1080i to 1080p!

Why did Plex ignore that for that long time? there need to edit the configs for the Chromecasts and force the converting. and its done.
i don’t understand that.

Hallo, i have the same problem at chromcast 2.
Half picture size and very laggy with 1080i playback.

any ideas?

I have this problem with Chromecast 2.0. I tried on Chromecast 3.0 and the problem are also available.
This happens only on maximum quality on settings. If I drop down to 8Mbps (transcode), it works just fine, but the quality it’s a little bit lower.
I have this issue ONLY on Chromecast. On all other devices, these kind of files are played ok.

Yes, it is beceause if you force the transcode, it will transcode to 1080p. So the stream will not longer be 1080i and it works perfectly. But the quality will be lower. If the source is at 4mbit/s, you need to transcode to 3 mbit/s.
That hurts a lot.
