TheMovieDB Standalone Agent

For those things that don't have an IMDB ID
This is something that I originally wrote mostly to see if I could, as a learning exercise. I wasn't planning on sharing it, since I never really saw how it could be useful to others-- it doesn't do anything that the default one included with Plex doesn't, and it doesn't do some things that one does (I think).

But it turns out that it actually does do something different-- it searches based on name and year, instead of on the IMDB ID. Apparently, there are some things in themoviedb.org that aren't actually movies and don't have an IMDB ID.

So here you go.
themoviedbStandalone.plexapp (187 KB)

Depending on how you have your stuff organized, you may want use this on a per-item basis. There's some screenshots in the first post of the DVD Order thread that show how to do that.

On behalf of all Plex-using UFC fans, I thank you. Awesome job!

+1 :)

Like what? What’s on TMDB that isn’t a movie and doesn’t have a IMDB ID?

Apparently some UFC events. Who knew, right?

The UFC scraping problems 'were' being discussed here.

http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/17293-ufc/

Raindancing has put an end to that discussion without even posting to it. Nice. :)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

I have from UFC 52 to the latest (125) and I’m thrilled to finally get this working. There’s still some odd ones, mostly the fight nights and versus events, but thrilled to have this working. It’s been an unusable section since I started using Plex.

I managed to get all events recognised from UFC 1 to current including all Fight Nights and UFC Live events, although some entries are missing posters, banners and/or background art. I had to add a couple of the fight night events to TheMovieDB and filled in what info I could, but unfortunately I couldn't find any posters or banners for them that met the resolution requirements - but they're all there and for that, I am very happy that it's all working!

:D

Thanks for this, but .... how should I install this after downloading?

Double-click on the .plexapp file. It will ask you if you want to install, just say yes.

Hoping you might be able to take a look at this, Raindancing. I’ve been trying to help someone in another thread where it seems this agent should help solve the problem. However, the agent (when using “Match Using” in the Media Manager) is returning the “There was no acceptable match using the specified agent.” error. There is, however, a match available.

Looking at the log file for the plugin, I see it’s requesting the following URL/XML from the API:

http://api.themoviedb.org/2.1/Movie.search/en/xml/f12953124d4a9550fc5d85e431bceb58/Anouk%20Is%20Alive

Visiting that does return an XML file with the [expected TheMovieDB entry](http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/23392). Is there an issue in the agent with accepting the returned result or might there be some other issue going on?

Responded in the other thread. I think the bad data there for the year is causing the match-score to be below the acceptable threshold, which is why it’s not showing up.

My PMS is crashing when trying to use this metadata agent with all my movies. After I restart, the scan won’t continue. Where can I find the logs ?

Anyway to install this on a Windows PMS? I’m gonna guess no, but figured there was no harm in trying.

Raindancing> Are you still working on that one ? I’m trying to see if i could fit my i18n modifications in it, however it seems that TMDB search is somewhat broken when use dwith non-ascii chars.

For anyone interested, here is a internationalized version of this standalone agent (derived from my i18n version of the original TMDB sub-agent).

Cheers, tell me if it performs well on your library, or if it horribly fails…

It horribly fails :-)

The problem is that I can't install it.

I tried to just add the bundle -> no luck

I also tried to install the initial TMDB Standalone and just replace the bundle -> no luck

Logs : standalone logs.zip (1.83 KB)

Sorry, I got it wrong all along, now it should be fixed… here is another version of it. I promise not to post any hacked plugins just before getting in a plane for some days in the sunny part of france

Is there anyway i can make this a option in the Tv Shows section? This is why i ask… I believe UFC is a Tv Show, and i’d like to have this Metadata agent in my tv shows category (you know left hand side of Media Manager) since this agent seams to be the only one to actually pick up on UFC titles, i’d like it there or in both places if thats possible, Movies Category and Tv Shows Category

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Thank you SO much!

I have several movies that are not listed on IMDb, but they are listed on TheMovieDB.

Using this standalone agent worked PERFECTLY!

Thanks, again!!
