Hey
Came across this old thread but want to use this agent. How does one install this on any ubuntu server? I haven’t been able to find how to do that yet
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers!
I haven’t tested it on linux machines. If you’re looking only for internationalization (and not non-imdid films) you culd also use my version of themoviedb agent with countries and languages.
OK...same question then...how do you install it? Im new to Plex and i am wanting to use this for my UFC shows that use themoviedb with no imdb id
Cheers!
For folks with the Windows or Linux PMS versions who can’t use the .plexapp installer, I’ve attached a zipped copy of the standard .bundle file.
- Unzip the file
- Copy the “TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle” to your Plex Media Server’s “Plug-ins” directory (same place you’ll find framework.bundle, system.bundle, etc.)
(Windows users can right-click their PMS in the system tray and “Open Plug-ins Folder” to get to the right place.)
I'm running 0.9.5.1 on unRAID (Slackware). I copied the unzipped file to both the plugins directory in the plex app folder and the library folder but it still doesn't show up as an agent. I restarted plex after placing it there. Am I missing anything?
I would also appreciate a little help please. I’m running OS X Lion 10.7.2 and I’ve put the bundle in the plugin folder but I can’t get it to appear in the Metadata Agent Settings pane.
Cheers,
Neddy
Same here- running lion. Put the file "TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle" in /Macintosh HD/Applications/Plex Media Server/Contents/Resources/Plug-Ins, then restarted plex media server and I still don't see this available as a metadata agent for my library section in my media manager. Is there something else I need to do to get this to work?
[EDIT: update ok I got it working- I guess I missed the step about having to go into the media manager and clicking the gear icon to configure the metadata agent. Looks good so far!]
Awesome, Thanks to the standalone agent maker. I’ve been looking for a solution to my concerts not scraping for ages. Every single concert that was on tmoviedb just wouldn’t work eg. AC/DC Live '77. With this it had the posters and metadata in secs, I even went and added the content to themoviedb that wasn’t available eg. Arctic Monkeys Itunes Festival 2011 and it scraped it straight away no waiting time.
Maybe this should be pinned with a revised title for those with similar concert/UFC scraping problems? I’ve spent mega hours reading entire threads and this literally stopped me from posting a request for help, as I had said to myself I’ll just look at this one last thread.
Thanks again.
Should this standalone work on a ReadyNAS? I dont see anything different, the list looks the same as before.
thx
If you can’t get this to work check that the plugin hasn’t nested it’s own directories when you restart Plex.
That is, check that the directory structure (on Linux at least) is:
/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/
With these underneath…
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents/Info.plist
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents/Code
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents/Code/init.py
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents/Resources
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents/Resources/icon-default.png
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/Contents/Resources/attribution.png
Mine got stuffed up having it like:
TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/TheMovieDB Standalone Agent.bundle/
I have tried every single one of the fixes using this on my Windows server, but it still doesn’t work. I’ve tried everything, alternate methods of installation, renaming the files, editing metadata, double-checking TMDB, but nothing works. Every time I try to scan my UFC fights, NOTHING comes back.
Any suggestions? I have literally tried EVERYTHING in this thread.
Apparently some UFC events.
Hmmm. im using the windows server. I can see in my Plex Media Manager->preferences->Agents “TheMovieDB Standalone Agent”. But for some reason TheMovieDB is not checked, and i cant set a checkmark in it. I tried to use it anyway, but with no luck.
Anyone got any idea?

FYI...just figured this out, and thought I'd update it for anyone who happens to find it in Google. I made the mistake of copying the plugin into the folder under Program FIles, when in fact it needs to go in the folder in AppData in the Users folder!!!!
Copying the folder to the folder in Program Files doesn't appear to do anything...it has to be in this folder: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins
Also, for some reason I had to wait for an hour or two before the plugin started working properly. That said, this was a life saver for me as I MUCH prefer The Movie DB because it is open and I can modify incorrect things myself... :)
Thank you so much for this! Works a treat for Stand Up Comedy!
This plug-in has been a lifesaver for me. Thanks so much. I was about to give up on Plex as I’d tried every other metadata agent and I had so many films that couldn’t be matched up (including a few mainstream films). I’ve managed to match every film now. Thanks again!
Is there a way to disable this plugging from overwriting cover art that is already in a file? I use a lot of custom cover art and unfortunately the plug-in is wiping it all out when I do matches with it. It’s not a big, just a hassle to put it back the way it was.
Im still having trouble, when i double click the plexapp (on Mac OSX Lion) i get message that says
"There is no application set to open the document “themoviedbStandalone.plexapp”.
Hep would be appreciated so i can finally get all my UFC Fights on Plex
Thanks for this its awesome. Works most of my MMA stuff.
I have found a couple where it does not automatically pick up the posters. Looking at the themoviedb.org there are posters for these events on the site. The three it failed on the posters were: Bellator 56, Pride 7, and Pride 8.
Not complaining, easy to add custom, but just letting you know.
Edit: It is possible that this change is related to the fact I upgraded to Plex Media Server 0.9.6.6. It was working before that.
Edit: Found the problem and described the fix.

Is there a particular reason this agent isn't included in the Linux builds to begin with? Seems like a necessary component.
