Yep... this is the majority of what I get via Plex Web on Safari and Chrome (Chrome error happens in both Windows and Mac) when trying to play files now that I've updated to the new server. These same files played flawlessly prior to this update.
When I try to play anything on the Xbox I don't get this message, I just get a black screen. :(
I run my Plex server on a Windows 7 machine.
The same files that give me this error on my computers and won't play on the Xbox One run perfectly on my Amazon Fire TV.
I have repaired the Plex server to see if that fixed the issue. It did not.
I also have determined that I am still able to play my Files from my Plex server on the Xbox via the workaround I'd been using for months. I just use the Xbox Video app and fling the file via iMediaShare app on my phone.
The same files I can't watch via the Plex app work with the workaround.
I'm baffled and not sure where the disconnect is happening.
This post fixed my black screen Xbox One problem! #4
I am still having the same issue with certain files not playing via Plex Web and the same files won't play on the Xbox one (neither will they play on my Plex app on iOS) so I'm guessing that issue is related to codecs in the current server configuration for some reason.
When I try to play the same files that won't play on other devices, using my Amazon Fire TV they play immediately and with no issues.
I'll mention again, that I did not have issues with playing these files via Plex Web prior to this latest server software.
Could you please post your PMS logs, and we'll look into what might be going on?
Thanks!
Is there a process to do that privately? Also, is there a way to capture the Xbox One logs? I have the Web, iOS and Android (same files won't play on my Kindle Fire HDX) set up for logs, but not sure how to do Xbox One.
So I rolled my server back to the previous version and now I can play these videos on all of my devices except my Xbox (of course). So there's something in the configuration of the server software that caused the problem. I guess I'll just wait until the next iteration of the server to use my Xbox as a Plex client.
Same problem for me. It can't be just related to the new Xbox update (i.e. waiting for mkv support) because the same message is shown for .avi and .mp4 files - both of which are already supported by the Xbox One and usually play without issues.
Also, the web UI isn't saving preferences now. I keep getting errors about needing to enable clients' ability to delete media, and when I go to check my settings everything is back to the default.
Further, my media won't download all the metadata for my files and I'm not the only one with this issue (see another thread). Since the new server upgrade it has trouble finding data even when it's labelled precisely as listed on the tv database web site - and deleting libraries, emptying trash, resetting bundles, rebuilding libraries, etc. does not fix this problem. I left a single library with about 100 episodes of data spanning 53 shows for 12 hours and when I returned the circle was still spinning and about 25% had no - or the WRONG (which is really weird considering my labelling versus what was shown) - metadata, with many instances of blank artwork. Even those that did have artwork have today lost it all after exiting the server program and reloading it..
We aren't quite there yet, are we? ;)
Are there any logs I can post for support? (If so, tell me where to find them!)
I can understand you not wanting to chuck your logs up here. Feel free to PM me with them. It's the PMS ones that will be interesting since it sounds like a regression there.

I captured one using Chrome trying to play one of the files. I don't know if it would help but I'll PM you. I've gone back to the last server configuration for the time being so I'm not sure I'll be much help at this point. Can you access previous logs if you have my user name? I can PM that to you too.

this is so frustrating. I can either keep an old server and use Plex on EVERY OTHER device I own and watch everything I have on my server, or I can use the current Xbox One compatible server and watch about 1/2 of what I have on my server on ALL devices I run Plex on, including my Xbox One. It's a no brainer, I stay on the old server and not utilize my Xbox One as a Plex client. I can, thankfully access all my content via the new media player on the Xbox, but it's not quite as nice of an experience as using the Plex interface. I can't figure out why the new servers have rendered much of my content unwatchable when it's been fine for ages.
