I have recently encountered a new issue only started a couple of days ago so I am unsure if its the server or player that is the issue, but the problem is only experienced on the the Fire TV.

My Plex Server (also my gaming PC) goes to sleep when not in use. When any of my devices locally or remote launch Plex the server wakes and after a few seconds videos are able to play. All my other devices wait until the server is ready before videos appear.

The Fire TV stick seems to cache files and immediately opens the home page before the server is ready. Clicking on anything nets the error message as listed in the title. Clicking retry does nothing, clicking cancel does nothing. The only way to remedy is to restart the Fire TV stick or eventually the app will crash and when you relaunch it it opens fine.

It seems that the Fire TV is not waiting for the server to be available. I have tried multiple different options but nothing seems to work. It doesn’t do it every time it starts, probably about 25% of the time will end with this issue.

Yes one option is to stop my PC going to sleep, but this has worked seamlessly for the past few months and only late last week has it started.

Anyone else experience this? It is beginning to drive me slowly mad.

I don’t think the ‘Retry’ button in the dialogue actually attempts to reconnect the server and simply retries playing the file.

Is there any way to get the player to reattempt a server connection? Or at least get it to wait for the server to be up before attempting to open the files?
